Had a heart attack and my heart stopped. The hospital I was sent to told my family I had only one chance and they sent me to Ohio State and Dr Sun to save me. I woke up several days later after emergency bypass and valve surgery. The team was incredible at taking care of me. Dr Sun was clearly the captain. I am alive and healthy 1 year later because of him and his team. They were the best.

My husband had an aorta replacement surgery that was supposed to take 8 hours. Instead of starting in the morning, a tired team headed by Dr. Sun started the surgery at 6:00 pm, despite my request to reschedule. The surgery took 11 hours; important parts of the OR report are missing; my husband never recovered from the mini strokes that he suffered from the surgery. He was off the machines for more than an hour. Dr. Sun never allowed me to meet with the entire team of doctors to discuss my husband's prognosis. Dr. Sun reassured me that things would improve despite evidence to the contrary. He was always too busy to discuss the outcomes of the surgery. After 3 months of suffering, my husband died. Dr. Sun did not take responsibility for choosing to proceed with surgery despite the fact that Dr. Sun's team had been operating for 12 hours before they started on a lengthy and difficult surgery.
