Dr. Bennett Young Cowan

Dr. Cowan had a patient who has stage four cancer that has approximately six to eighteen months to live. Dr. Cowan lacked the courage to tell his patient or the family members the state of his health - they practically had to drag it out of him. He barely told his patient anything, but when his patient asked for a lift seat for his chair, Dr. Cowan simply denied his request and said that he wouldn't be alive long enough to use it. I suppose a doctor has the right to deny his patient complacency and comfort in his last days of life now. This doesn't seem very ethical - to basically tell someone that he doesn't deserve to have his pain alleviated, at least a little bit. All this "doctor" would have to do is write something on a piece of paper. That's it. But apparently that would be too much trouble for the good doctor.
