Bennie Upchurch III, MD

I had a endoscopy/colonoscopy today. Dr. Upchurch did an amazing job. He explained everything thoroughly, made me feel comfortable and heard. I highly recommend him and, if I have any gastrointestinal issues, I have the utmost faith in his ability to take care of the problem!

I recently was seen by Dr Upchurch for treatment and management of a rather serious ulcer and anemia...I was very pleased with his care....he took time to explain things and answer questions....he treated me as if I was a member of his own family ...I highly recommend him....his staff was friendly and got back to me quickly re med orders etc....Jo Fincato

He doesn't listen at all. Emergency room wanted a colonoscopy done. He won't do it. He just says it's IBS that I'm too heavy to have Crohn's. ????????

I am shocked that this Dr has any good reviews. Everything about my visit was the worst experience I have ever had. Late with no apology, interrupted more times that I could count, not listening, badgering me like he was a prosecuting attorney but not listening to anything about my history, symptoms, or issues. Didn't prepare by reading my charts, in fact he said conflicting things because he indicated that my records were not on file, yet seemed to know that I had visited Dr's and had some tests. Accused me of "shopping around" without even knowing why I had seen other Dr's before. Accused me of not believing my "diagnosis" - again how would he know, we had no time to talk about it. Finally told me he doesn't treat "my disorder" because it takes up too much time (how would he even know what my disorder is?) and said I should see a nurse practitioner. On top of that, he emphasized that "I" was double booked (that's MY problem?). I would NEVER send my worst enemy to him.

Very caring doctor. Answered all my questions.

Seeing this dr was a very frustrating experience. After waiting 2 months for a follow up appt he was not prepared to see me and address my problem. At the end of the appt he told me he didn't have a diagnosis for me and I could follow up with someone else in the practice. If you like a doctor who looks at his watch during the appt then this dr is for you.

Do not see doctor upchurch, he will talk to you like he memorized an enclopedia and not listen to your ACTUAL problems.. plus no one knows what they're doing on the computers there.

Was very helpful with my mother who was having gastrointestinal bleeding. No one else was able to diagnose the problem. He knew exactly what the problem was and helped treat her so that she no longer needs blood transfusions.
