Dr. Benny Man Yiu Wong, MD

After leaving my last review, I've been removed in retaliation. Secretaries already accidentally let me know about it, of course the office coordinator and nurse denies it. I'll keep up with these ratings and see what other reporting I have the energy for.

CROUSE lost a lot of stature when they gave Mr. WONG his position. He is very proud and cannot take anything. Accused me of childish stuff and I'm happy to be away from him. He came up short in his lack of professional demeanor. He also said HA ha ha ha ha.zHe is really cold callous and a spoiled BRat.

I met Dr. Wong today. He barely looked me in the eye or let me ask questions. I went in expecting a fairly engaged and concerned Dr. based on his own small biography on the HOA website - that he enjoys humor and cares deeply about his patients, especially those with cancer. I was referred to him primarily for Thallassemia (minor, beta) (blood disorder that causes anemia) but just had a biopsy of my thyroid that was indeterminate. Even before he brushed that off - he already seemed to decide I wasn't worth time or thought. That we were only going to talk about Thallasemia and the regular anemia he saw from old blood work - he marched in and announced that the blood work showed extremely deficient iron - I was interested in learning about how iron might help that - since a lot of my family (my grandparents are actually his patients - they have different last names than me and my grandfather has leukemia) say their hematologists tell them not to take iron since our bodies are making… extra and tend to then get rid of it additional iron (this is what their hemo's say). I couldn't get any sentances out until the end - I got an immediate eye roll as I was explaining what I've been told for the purpose of him educating me and he treated me as if I were stating that I wouldn't take the iron - couldn't even finish - huge eye roll and then he started talking..... didn't even hear me tell him that I wasn't contesting the iron. I know what Thallasemia is I work in healthcare, I have a life and an education - I look dead especially today with my super low ferratin and Hoshimoto's… he seemed to think it was fair to assume I was too dumb to be worthy of spending time and energy talking to - or wouldn't explain much - he literally sighed and went over the basic definition as if I couldn't know that, and oh also what a huge waste of time it was to tell me that since he clearly had patients double booked he wanted to be in there for less than 5 minutes while me - a WORTHY human (and therefore also worthy patient...) paidk with insurance I'm sure well over $250-$300... none of which was earned that day. Keep in mind I waited months to get in. I didn't have the energy to engage and/or fight and show him that I am worthy, intelligent, or let him know that even if patients aren't intelligent or interested (which I am) - that they are entitled to be active learners if not participants in their care. Explain their illness and treatments - why certain things work and others don't - other things that can help and certain way to manage disorders and regulate different treatments if they're given. What might occure and different paths to take after ward - different long term options - all options including their recommendations.... This feels long bc well, I have over 20 minor and major diagnoses, only one of which is currently severe anemia. I'll feel better someday and I will be making him work for his money (I'll call him Dr. when his morals reflect the profession... most patients don't care what your education was if you don't give them a thought... what good is your PhD and experience to us then?). All of your patients deserve the best care possible and with empathy - that makes it worth even more than $300/for 5 minutes. Unreal.... I'm sure I'll be on the phone with compliance eventually.

Dr. Wong has been seeing my husband for several years after Kidney cancer. He is always friendly, thorough with his treatments and when you leave he gives you a feeling of confidence that all will continue to be well until your next meeting. He is a great doctor.
