Dr. Bernadette Brown

We had been dealing with this pediatrician for over 20 years. She was our pediatrician from the time my first child was born, 21 years ago and she saw all four of our children. One of the first issues we have always had with her was long waits. Our appointment would be at 4 and she wouldn't see us until 5, even if we showed up early. She likes to stack vaccinations. So if we got behind, she would want to give the child 5 at a time, which I don't agree with. We always had a problem with her over prescribing medication. Anything we went in for we would get at least 3 prescriptions, but we didn't always fill all of them, feeling it was way too much. We were close to the last straw when my youngest inhaled a lot of dust and became very stuffed up. She was 2 at the time. I took her in and was told she had the flu, without a positive flu test, and she was prescribed Tamiflu. Since then we realized she naturally has bad allergies, like my oldest. To this day I DO NOT believe… she had the flu. I have always felt like Dr. Brown prescribes for profit. After being with her for 18 years, we lost our insurance. I called her office to find out if we could get a cash rate with her and was told no. I would have to pay the same rate, but they would put me on a payment plan. We found someone else after that. It's now been a couple of years since we have taken our kids to her. My oldest teen now has depression and had been seeing a therapist for 4 months. We were trying to use natural medication like CBD and St.Johns Wort. It became clear that it wasn't working and I discussed with her therapist getting a prescription, which she said was a good idea. My daughter had thoughts of suicide, but had not attempted it. We talked to a doctor about getting a prescription and he recommended taking her to her pediatrician since she had a long history working with her. Though we did not really want to take her there, I did anyway. THIS WAS THE WORST CHOICE I HAVE EVER MADE FOR MY CHILD. Dr. Brown had her fill out a little form then came in freaking out saying I needed to take her to a psychiatric ward right away. She went to call Dell Children's, but because she had us waiting an hour to see us (with NO other patients in the office), it was 5:00 an no one was there. I argued with her that my daughter had been talking to a therapist for months and she NEVER said she needed psychiatric help. All I wanted was for her to give my daughter an antidepressant and she would go back to seeing a psychotherapist (because they can't prescribe medication). We were in the process of finding another one since my daughters schedule changed and she couldn't sync up with hers. She agreed to give her the medication on the condition that I bring her back once a week for her to monitor and we get the therapist. I agreed and made an appointment for the next week. That night we filled the med and my daughter started taking it. That was Wednesday evening. Friday morning her nurse called me, asked if we got the med and if my daughter was taking it; I said yes. She asked if we made a therapy appointment and I told her I was still talking to them. She asked if I wanted her to send me some names and I said yes. She sent me a list of names then they called CPS and reported me for medical neglect!!!!!! I absolutely couldn't believe it. Nor could the police that came to our house. Nor could the CPS agent that is now involved. Bernadette Brown DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN. Her only concern, as she voiced it during our visit, was covering herself for any liability. Stay as far away from this office as you can. Every negative review you read about this woman is 100% correct. Find a doctor that actually cares about your children and is willing to work with you when they are sick or you have financial difficulties. They are out there and this doctor is NOT one of them.

Dr. Brown has been my doctor since I was born. She is amazing in making me feel hopeful and loved. She does her best to make sure you have what you need, even if you have difficulties affording medications. She has taken me in a few times outside of work hours, and makes it really easy to meet with her. I recommend her for anyone in need.

Excellent and appropriate care given in a small practice.

The office staff is awful. I will never be back. I will do everything I can to let everyone I know how bad they are.

This doctor started out ok, but since I have a child with numerous medical issues, we were there often. She would make us return over and over, paying our copay each time. When my daughter was hospitalized, she would show up late at night (11 pm) and would keep us there days longer than necessary. Chewed me out one night for working part time and attempting to go to school. In front of my child, suggested I have her committed because "she doesn't know anything. Look at her just sitting there." My child was crying, I was crying and the hospital nursing staff was outraged! This woman is cruel and uncaring! Also diagnosed my child as mentally retarded with no testing whatsoever! Thankfully, we moved away and now have a wonderful, caring doctor who would never treat us with such disrespect.

She likes to make you think everything is the worst case possible. She keep asking us to come back for follow-ups, co-pay after co-pay. We thought something was really wrong. Cold and allergies was it. Prescribed my infant 30 days of antibiotics for a cold. 30 days....REALLY!! "Forgot" some of her 12 months immunizations. Diagnosed 2 of my kids with pink eye because we told here they had a little goop in their eyes one morning. $50 each for meds. Neither had pink eye.

The wife and I are very picky and Dr. Brown as more than always exceeded our expectations. She listens and takes lots of time with the children. She is eager to help and great overall. Appointments are easy to get, wait time is very low. She is straight forward, doesn't waste your time and always makes sure the children are #1.

I went with grandchildren for a first time appointment. I was impressed with Dr. Brown. She is professional, no nonsense and right on target. She picked up on a couple of things right away. Seems willing to work with you and wants the best for the children. As a nurse who has worked with children for many years, I would definitely recommend her.
