Dr. Bernard Allen Milstein, MD

Bored, disengaged = dangerous. Go somewhere else.

The short version: Dr. Milstein and his staff were effective, efficient, and friendly. I highly recommend them. More details: Throughout the process (pre-surgery, surgery, post-surgery exams), everyone was very friendly and knew what they were doing. They were busy and moved through people quickly, but never skimped on anything. Any time I had a question, they took the time to answer it. Everything felt smooth and easy. The LASIK procedure itself was pretty painless. They use something to hold your eye open while the laser is operating, which was mildly uncomfortable, and that was as painful as it got. After the first surgery, my right eye didn't heal quite correctly. I had a little bit of double vision. They had me come in for a touch-up operation, and now my right eye is working great, too. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'm excited about being able to see with my own eyes. Science is pretty awesome.

Dr. Milstein was in the room with me for no more than 1 minute after I waited about an hour for him to come see me. He only looked at my affected eye (without getting any of my medical history) and "diagnosed" me after a few seconds. He even said that my bad eye had better vision than my good eye without even looking at my good eye...he then turned to the nurse and told her what medication to put in and left WITHOUT TELLING ME ANYTHING ABOUT MY DIAGNOSIS or asking if I had any questions. I completely understand that doctors are busy, but he told me nothing. What is worse is that a few minutes later he returned to my room to get something for another patient and so real quick I said "excuse me?" and he said "nope!" and walked out of the room. I originally thought it was a joke but then he never returned. The nurse in the room laughed out loud and said "sorry its been a long day for us today." Before leaving I asked the nurse to get Dr. Milstein so I could at least get a little… bit of information from him. And then finally after about another 15 minutes of waiting at the receptionist's desk he finally showed up. I simply asked him how long my symptoms should last and then if I needed the prescription or if this was something that could resolve on its own. His answer was "hmm probably a week" (I've had these symptoms for a week and a half already) and that the prescription "might help or might not. I dont know"... Now, another week later, I am still having vision problems and I'm honestly worried that it might become permanent vision damage because of a misdiagnosis. In short, DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR. Even the receptionist apologized to me and gave me the name of a better doctor to see after looking around to make sure no one else was watching. Dr. Milstein is absolutely terrible and rude.

This man is a rock star in his field and he showed deep compassion for my eye problems and went the extra mile today for me. I was strapped for money (no insurance) so he was kind enough to provide me with some needed samples for the time being. It certainly improved my desperate situation from many stand points. Compassion and old fashioned care. That is becoming a lost art.

This was the second time in a row that I had to wait for ever. Finally left this time. I've been a patient for a long time. 2 eye surgerys and many appointments. My time is valuable also. I just don't understand why I have an 8:10 appt and I'm still in the out front waiting area at 8:45. You're office needs to be better organized. I really like the Dr. But the disorganization in the office has me finding me another Dr.

Great Doctor knows what he is doing!

Dr Milstein is a terrible Doctor. He has absolutely no bedside manner, is rude, and unprofessional. His office staff is also very unpleasant. Please do yourself a favor and do not see anyone in this group.

Awesome Doctor!

I had my appointment on the day of their Mardi Gras party. The staff was so happy and cheerful and seemed to be more than just co workers, they seemed like a family. You could tell that they really enjoy what they do. I was seen quickly and Dr. Milstein was great as always.
