I went in for back pain, but after meeting with the Dr. he suggested a new health plan and lifestyle for me. He made it very simple and I have lost 50 lbs and in result my back pain has lessened immensely. So happy. I see him every month now to check in. I love it. Love my results with him

I've been a patient of Dr. Portner for 10 years and have found him to be very competent, compassionate and professional doctor and human being. He has always answered all my questions, took his time with me, performed thorough and justified tests and procedures/ treatments. He has helped me live a full and complete life, enabled me to stay fully employed, and balances the demands of a profession that many doctor's can't. Any doctor is only as good as the trust you put in them, and the proactiveness the patient is ready to muster with their own condition. Do your homework, know what your symptoms are and your condition is, organize your questions and make best use of your time with any doctor for that matter. I would recommend him highly.

This place is just a factory and he treats you that way. You have about 30 seconds to tell him what is going on then he is off to the next number in his stacked appointment list. Your just a number to the man. Nice staff though. Only validate for 30 minutes of parking, which give you enough time to basically go up to the building, sign in, then come back down and leave.

Dr. Bernard Portner charged (insurance) $419 on my first visit. He spent maybe 10 minutes with me and didn't tell me anything other than prescribe an anti-inflamatory and physical therapy. I waited over an hour, and the the receptionist let another patient go before me when I had a scheduled appointment before him and had arrived well before him. It's no wonder insurance premiums are on the rise. $419 seems a little excessive for what I received. I would not recommend him.

I've been having chronic back problems for a long time. I called and was able to get an appointment that same week, and after filling out my paperwork in the office, my wait was about 5 minutes. After talking to a nurse my wait was about another 5 minutes before Dr Portner came in. He offered a very thorough examination and tested my range of movement, asked about the circumstances of my pain, offered me plenty of time and opportunity to ask and/or tell him anything I wanted. I did not feel rushed and I felt that he was a very affable, knowledgeable doctor. Scheduling PT sessions and follow up appointments was easy and I was able to get appointments the next day and nearly any time I wanted. Overall, fantastic experience! A+ doc.

He is very caring and easy to talk to. Not the type of Doctor who wants to "cut first and ask questions later". He is also very knowledgeable and respected in his field, I recommend him highly.

First, they treated me like garbage on the initial visit they were using words like "your alleged injury" instead of listening to my symptoms, it felt like I had to "prove" to them, and that is the most frustrating thing when you are in pain 24/7, and you finally get your 15 minutes with the Dr. and they dont even answer your questions or get to whats causing the pain, but do give you all the pills you'd ever want but that won't get you any better in the long run! Then, on a visit with the actual Dr. Portner- Most unprofessional laugh of a Dr. visit i'd ever had. He jammed my neck all the way to the side, causing great pain, and then declared that I didnt have a neck injury and that if the medication I was taking was upsetting my stomach than they all would do that. Then, with my mouth hanging open he straight up left and walked out of the room, without excusing himself or asking if I had any questions. So, so sorry I chose them as my Doctors. Completely cruel, imcompetent, and money… hungry. A real tragety in my eyes because this has gone on for almost 5 months, but atleast I see I am not the only one mistreated by Portner. And he just looks creepy. end.

Very cold man. He might be smart but he didnt even want to listen to my past history. Think of him like that Doctor on house but with less personalty.

true definition of a grumpy old man.Gave me a diagnosis after 3-4 minutes of my first appointment.Totally non caring. Didn't review my patient forms, but was quick to give me a script for xray work, physical therapy, and told me to come back in a month. Asked for advice on my tennis elbow that I've had had for 2 1/2 years. He gave me a two word answer: ice it.Ice my elbow for the next 30 years of my life? Come on!
