Dr. Bernard R Wayman, MD

My husband and I are on Medicare. We scheduled Annual Wellness Visits for the same day. Medicare will pay in total for an Annual Wellness Visit. We confirmed that we were there for Annual Wellness Visits. Well, it does not matter why YOU tell them why you are there. The doctor decided that while we were there (without advising us) that he was going to also do a Routine Exam. Medicare only pays for an Annual Wellness Visit if it is exclusively an Annual Wellness Visit and coded as such. If the doctor or billing decide to throw in other charges the entire visit becomes something else. We have had problems like this at other times with this office. Now instead of my husband having a zero balance, he has a charge of $306.00. I have a charge of $55.00. I have spent MY TIME attempting to correct this to no avail. I have contacted Medicare, Dr. Wayman's office billing (lost my patience with person who was just repeating that we owe money) and was not listening to one word I was… saying and hung up on me. Automated responses. I have sent emails to HMHN billing. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING! I have sent messages to HMHN online with EOB from Medicare and the chat messages. If we schedule AN ANNUAL WELLNESS VISIT and confirm it is an AN ANNUAL WELLNESS VISIT, who are you to make the decision to change my appt without getting our consent. Will be looking for a doctor and staff that is responsive to patient's requests. You can bet that we will not be paying these bills.

I have been going to Dr. Wayman at least 14 years. Since the pandemic, he has a whole new office staff it is almost impossible to get an appointment and when you do the wait is over an hour sometimes two I walked in today because no one answered the phone two days and tried to get a walk in appointment was told I have to come back. Dr. wayman is a good doctor, but the office has become terrible since the new staff has taken over.

Earlier this month, I had a telemedicine appointment with Dr Wayman to get my Furosemide refilled. Due to the covid 19 pandemic, I am a little uncomfortable going to the Dr's office but he told me me I must get my bloodworm done and that is an order. Very patronizing. I wouldn't speak to my cat the way he talks down to me. In my opinion, he is just money hungry...that's why he wants to see me every 3 months instead of annually or bi annually. I must look for a Dr that I can gel with better. Wayman is not for me...he's horrible! BTW, Dr W, if you are reading this, my name is Donna

I am a patient of Dr, Wayman's and was put on Blood Pressure Medication. I was told that it sometimes has a side effect of a dry cough and if i develop one to just call the office and he would call something else in. However, when I called the office to speak with the nurse that was not the case. I had to call back 6 hours later because i hadn't heard from anyone and was told that he doesn't get his messages until the end of the day. I notified the nurse that I had no more medication and needed something called in because i have dangerously high blood pressure. All day went by with no call back. I called the following morning and was told that he would need to see me prior to calling something else in. I explained to her AGAIN that he told me I wouldn't need to see him if i developed a dry cough he would just call something in to my pharmacy. She said she would speak to him and call me back. It is now three days later and i still haven't heard from the office. I am out of my… medication and am experiencing chest pains and heart palpitations. This office is more interested in collecting insurance reimbursements rather than taking care of their patients.

I made an appointment for 1:15 and was asked to get there at 1 to fill out paperwork. At 2pm, I was still waiting. When I asked if there was a problem because my appointment was pre-scheduled for 1:15, the response I received was, "That doesn't mean your going to get in at that time." I subsequently left the office. I made the appointment 3 weeks ahead of time. To assume I'm making an appointment to wait 45-60 minutes to even get in is poor management and patience service. This is not the first time this has happened or I heard of others experiencing it as well. I will not go back.

Ridiculous. Dirty. Greedy. The office staff should have the common decency to call and explain the doc is running almost 3 hours behind! The nerve to expect patients to wait. Absurd!

I don't have a problem with Dr. Wayman so much, but do with how they schedule appointments and wait time. Make an appointment and still wait 2+ hours is crazy. Dr. Wayman however, WILL NEVER call you back I'm told and have to relay everything to the nurse's v/m which is a lot of times full and yet you wait until they give Dr the message to then relay that to me. I was told he NEVER calls patients. Aimee the office manager is always very nice but there is a nurse named Aimee who is NOT. They tell you to make an appointment on line and forget that he isn't even in the office during that time. Dr. Wayman doesn't appear to rush when he finally comes in so that is a small plus. Their phone lines were down for 2 days once and then their computers. I had to call another office affiliated to have them call the inside line to call me back. Blamed it on Comcast with no apologies. I had an issue with possible pink eye recently and when calling said he doesn't have an opening for 2… weeks! Also, Dr doesn't believe in annual physicals. Finding another primary very soon.

My experience was completely opposite of some negative reviews expressed here. I was satisfied with all I came into contact with.

Dr. Wayman is one of the best doctors in Toms River NJ. He is my mother's dr. My mother is 98 years old. He also is my persona personal doctor. If have to describe him, I can tell you that he is very Knowledgeable and the most compassionate doctor.
