Dr. Bernard Berel Yonk, MD

Everyone can say he is a “nice” doctor which may be true however he misdiagnosed my mother with stomach cancer and kept treating her w cancer causing Zantac and Nexium for IBS and reflux for years without doing any testing!! Stay far away...my mom is gone because of his careless dismissive nature! PS- he does endoscop/colonoscopy in his office and kept telling my mom it wasn’t necessary

You will not find a better physician than Dr. Yonk! He diagnosed me with Crohn’s disease in 1984 and has been my PCP and GI for all this time since. Our family doctor at that time kept misdiagnosing my symptoms as a nervous stomach. It took nine months from the time my symptoms started to the day I met Dr. Yonk. He not only cared for me as one of his patients, but cared for me as his own daughter. He’s the type of doctor that listens to your concerns and reassures you that everything with be ok. In 1992 when my disease was not responding to meds, he suggested surgery. With this, he also suggested to see 2-3 other GIs of my choice to get other opinions. What doctor would suggest that? When I chose my surgeon, I asked Dr. Yonk if he can be present during surgery at a hospital he did not have privileges. He didn’t think twice, he was there for me. He went through all the red tape to be able to be there for me. We walked into the OR together, and afterwards, gave me a detailed account of… my surgery. It was something my husband and I are so grateful for til this day. That surgery put me in remission for a good six years. Dr. Yonk stays with the latest news in the GI field. He has saved my life on numerous occasions. He truly cares for his patients. He gave me his personal cell number, as well as his private number when he was vacationing in Israel when I was in the hospital with a bad flare. I didn't call him while he was away, but he called me! He has become a great friend to my husband as well. (He and his wife were guests at my wedding.) When my husband turned 50, Dr. Yonk performed his first colonoscopy. To our shock, my husband had Rectal and colon cancer. He immediately sent him for a ct scan to confirm. Although Joe was cared for at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Dr. Yonk spoke with his oncologists as well as his surgeon. Thank God I had Dr Yonk to explain everything to us. He was there for him for every stage of his cancer journey. He is also now my 20 yr old son’s PCP and has given him a colonoscopy. Why? He is at high risk since his father had CRC cancer and Lynch syndrome. I can go on and on how Dr. Yonk has saved my life in the last 35+ yrs! He’s professional, compassionate, caring and kind! Finally but certainly not least, his current staff, Brenda, Laura, Perrie & John go over and beyond to help you with insurance, appointments, etc! Thank you!

Dr. Yonk saved my youngers sisters life over 15 years ago, no other physician was able to diagnose and treat her condition; Since he has been the family doctor. He is dual certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. Dr. Yonk is a very much tell it like it is physician that demonstrates professionalism and compassion all in one. I once contacted Dr. Yonk's office about my mother being admitted to the hospital. Not only did he call me back while he was on vacation in Israel nonetheless, he contacted the attending caring for my mom for follow up. He is one of the best Doctors my family and I have experienced thus far. I could go on about how he saved my life, my sisters , my brother in laws and my husband's during emergencies but I digress. Great Dr. to work with and an even better group of staff he currently has working with him.

Complete wacko that passes himself off as gastroenterologist! It is because of him that my mom is dying of stomach cancer!! He will give tons of meds and tell you nothings wrong until it’s too late. He knew my mother’s history of stomach cancer in her family and failed to give her an endoscopy in over 4 years saying it was not necessary!! The horrible irony is that he does them right in his office! My mom trusted this piece of garbage and she was literally sick for months or even years under his care..he should have his license taken away before he harms anyone else! I know my mom was not the first..a good friend of mine he misdiagnosed his father manyyears ago and it was too late! Stay away!

This doctor performs unnecessary tests just to bill your insurance. Office manager is rude and incompetent. Stay away from this office
