Dr. Bernardo Daniel Martinez, MD

Dr. Martinez is a OUTSTANDING vascular surgeon and has successfully operated on my daughter to resolve thoracic outlet syndrome and MALS. Top surgeons mis-diagnosed and were unable to treat her but he diagnosed and corrected both. He’s the only doctor we trust for these conditions and we drive 11 hours to see him.

My mom saw Dr. Martinez for a MALS consult. At first we were very impressed. He spent a lot of time with us the day of her appointment. He recommended additional testing in Topeka through her PCP. He even called my mom's doctor personally. After that there was little or no communication from Dr. Martinez's office. My mom's PCP reached out several times to find out what tests Dr. Martinez wanted. I called myself and was assured that the order would be sent that day but wasn't. After that we decided we didn't want to deal with Dr. Martinez and his staff any longer and went to get a second opinion.

Dr Martinez was able to diagnose my daughter with compression syndromes when no other doctor could help her. She couldn’t eat or drink and was on TPN. He scheduled surgery right away and she is able to eat and drink and get back to her life!

Great doctor. Would recommend highly. Sometimes have a long wait time but well worth it. Staff is great.

His surgery worked better than the surgery I had at the Cleveland Clinic. His robotic techniques are superior.

Dr marteniz truly saved my life. After many doctors not being sure of what my condition was or how to treat it, I was notified to call dr marteniz. I live in Georgia so I called and he told me to fly up the next week and he would treat me. He was truly an amazing man who made me feel comfortable. He took time to explain everything about the procedure and it was perfect no complications.

Dr. Martinez is very compassionate, he treats you with lots of respect and like family. If every doctor was like him maybe people like me would have less apprehension about going to see a dr. Great sense of humor as well, very upfront and spent the time needed to explain everything that was going to happen

When I had seen every Dr. On the East Coast all with the same answer "I can't help you, this will take your life. " I sent out a desperate email to any Dr. In the US I could find that had treated people with symptoms like mine. An Email I sent to the Cleveland Clinic somehow made its way to Dr. Martinez in Toledo, Ohio and he personally phoned me "Shelly you come I fix you." So I got on a plane fly from Maine to Ohio and this man treated me like I was his daughter. I can never repay him for the wonders he gave me, my life back, truly ! I thought I was there for an evaluation and he ran a test and said I have to operate again, he and his staff treated me like a family member not a patient or dollar signs but family. Now 7 years later I need another surgery and he again talked to me in person, over the phone since I now live in Mt. And told me he knew what my problem is and would be happy to fit me into his schedule as soon as I could arrange getting there. This man is truly blessed by… God with a heart of Gold.

Dr. Martinez told me to just deal with the awful thoracic outlet pain I was experiencing. He told me to read the bible, it had cured another patient of his, or try yoga. I was not even asking for pain pills, I just wanted answers, Dr. Martinez could not provide either, although he would be happy to do surgery he said if I was so bad off. I saw another doctor and they had immediately reset my first rib and got it off my brachial plexus in a non surgical procedure and I have been living life so much better since. Dr. Martinez is terrible....he didnt take me seriously and how dare he tell me to find healing through God. If I wanted that I would go to a preacher, not a medical doctor.

Before my surgery for a severe case of thoracic outlet syndrome, Dr. Martinez assured me that he had never made a mistake and not to worry. His ego was large, but his confidence reassured me. We could not have been more wrong. His surgical mistakes caused complications that kept me in the ICU for 8 days and outpatient care for an additional week. While I was in the ICU for these complications, he refused to treat me for the pain I was in and refused to acknowledge mistakes. I felt as if he was leaving me to die. Luckily, within 48 hours another doctor stepped in and took over my treatment for pain and cardiac and pulmonary issues. Throughout the process Dr. Martinez's ego remained large. Years after the surgery and I still have nerve damage on the side of my body he operated on. The severity of my case required multiple surgeries and I did not return to him for the remainder of my treatment.
