Dr. Bernie G Mchugh, MD

This is phone calls to the office. The person who you talk to is rude. I have had to call several times to see if they got notes from therapy. She has always said let me pull your file. She did not this time saying have not got anything from them. You are annoyed every time you call she stated. If you don’t like how we do things here you are welcome to find another doctor. I will make note of this in your chart. This person always acts as if you are bothering her when you call. I have never raised my voice or been personally rude to her. Yes anyone will be irritated to a point when they have not received the information needed. I have personally asked my therapy office about it and they in turn would send the notes again.

I strongly urge Dr McHugh to fire his current office manager. She is immature, unfriendly, and incompetent. I have been in severe pain for TWO WEEKs and had an appt. today, which she arbitrarily and capriciously cancelled the day before because she said my insure was cancelled. My insurance WAS NOT CANCELLLED and I told her the insurance company would call her the morning of my afternoon appt. She cancelled the appt anyway. KRISTA HUNTER you are a DISSERVICE to the this office and McHUGH has any sense he would fire you ASAP!!!!!

Broken back and a few surgeries later I have most of the feeling back and can walk.

I had neck surgery and end up with the right side of my vocal cord paralyzed. I had back surgery and continue to have back and leg pain. Because of dispute with him and my insurance he refuse to see me. I'm still seeking treatment for my vocal cord and I'm paying out money for that when he mess me up and now doesn't want to see me because I have a unpaid bill. I think this is wrong.

Just had my second surgery by Dr. McHugh. Both surgeries were due to catastrophic back injuries accompanied by relentless and intense pain. Dr. McHugh operated on me, both times on an emergency basis, the day after being admitted through the ER. The man is a God send. His surgeries were both minimally invasive despite the severe nature of injuries. I found he and Paula, his PA to be thorough and professional. I am a VERY physically active man at 54 who was still able to work out after my first surgery (had my second surgery a week ago) and perform rigorous work projects (DIY repairs, construction, etc). I am recovering very well now from my second surgery despite some sciatic nerve damage, but am certain that I will once again be able to return to my former level of activity, taking into consideration a deteriorating disc condition. The NELA area is absolutely blessed to have such a talented and excellent neurologist, as well as his equally worthy PA. As far as I am… concerned, Dr. Bernie McHugh is a miracle worker.

I think Bernie McHugh is an excellent surgeon. Thorough and does not push surgery. He smiles and lets you know you will let him know when you are ready for surgery. I have had cervical surgery more than a year ago and lumbar surgery most recently. Still getting my bearings; but he had me walking on my feet the same day of surgery.

I had a lot of pain and could barely use my arm. I have no pain and my arm works fine. I need say no more. We are lucky to have such talented surgeons in such a small town. My quality of life is owed to him.

I waited for 3 months to get an appt with him. The day before my appt, got a call from office saying he had emergency surgery the next day and cancelled my appt. When I asked for another appt, was given one for another 2 1/2 months away. Since I was having a lot of pain that day, I refused and will not make another appt with him. I was offered an appt with his PA in 6 weeks but did not want to see her. Wanted to see the doctor!

My overall experiecnes has been o.k. and yes I would and have recommended him. He is direct and to the point about your illness.
