Dr. Berwyn J C Lin, MD

I have both of my sons with Dr Lin's care for almost 10 years. I have never had any problem under his care. After reading some of the reviews, I feel it is really unfair to Dr Lin and to his staff. First time parents need to know a lot of time it is judgmental calls. It is parents' responsibility to decide going to ER or not. Just by speaking to a doctor on the phone, none is dare to say "your kid is fine". Doctor can only be certainly sure if he/she sees the baby/kid. I remember the first time, my older son had high fever, over 104.0. Doctor Lin said on the phone if he was active and no complaints, just watch him. I did not believe him. I still send him to ER. Then in 4 hours, ER send him back home saying he was fine and fever of 104 was not that alarming if he looked normal. And within 4 more hours, fever shoot up high again. I got scared and called Dr Lin, he said the same thing, just to watch him. And I did not believe him again, went to ER, and ER send us home the… second time. And afterwards, all turned out to be fine. A lot of time, it is your call. And some people says Dr Lin gives too much medicine. Well, it is not 100% true. Both of my sons experienced different treatments in the past 9 or 10 years. One is more sensitive to bacterial infections than the other. So every time Dr Lin was worried and concerned little infection would lead to bigger problem. So he always being extra caution. And the other son had almost no medicine. But in the end, it is still your as a parent, judgement. If you trust the doctor, do what he says. If you don't, try another doctor. And if you have doubts, go find a second opinion. Each doctor has their own opinion of doing things.

I am sorry about the other bad reviews. My kids have been seeing Dr. Lin since 16 years ago and he has been very professional. Please remember that Dr. Lin has a life, too. Maybe your insurance company is not paying him all of your monthly due and he might only get less than $100 per visit. This is why there is urgent center and they charge more during after hours. Trust me, he would answer your call if he can charge you $1000. Please check how much your insurance pays him and you will understand why.

Thatâ??s exactly what happened to my son, high fever to 102, and Dr. Lin did not give me any suggestion, and he did not pick up phone when I called, and i left message, he did not call me back (isn't Pediatrician supposed to on call 24/7?). So I had to call urgent center, and they was trying to help me reach Dr. Lin, he still did not talk to me, but he just told urgent center people to tell me that take my baby to go to emergency room. He did not give me any suggestion like what you have posted: "When we called Dr. Lin on the first day of the fever, he told us to watch how our baby behaves, if she is still feeding well, having normal wet diapers and exhibiting good energy. " Being first time parents, I thought the fever is very serious, otherwise Dr. Lin won't tell me to go to ER. So I brought my son to see ER, they just gave my son a whole drop of fever reduce juice. And now I am receiving a large bill of $2086, and there are more billing on the way...I am going to report Dr. Lin… right now. Is his responsibility to tell me or even suggest me what should I do when baby got fever, if its really that urgent and need to go to Emergency room, but he did not. Besides I am paying my baby's insurance $200+/month, plus now ER bills thousand dollars.

I feel badly for the 2 other reviewers who did not have a good experience with Dr. Lin and his staff. I am a first time parent, 32 years old, and we have had wonderful visits with this physician. He always takes the time to explain what he believes is going on with our daughter. Granted, she has been relatively healthy so far, except for an episode of high fever (103) with subsequent rash a few days later. When we called Dr. Lin on the first day of the fever, he told us to watch how our baby behaves, if she is still feeding well, having normal wet diapers and exhibiting good energy. She became a little fussy on the 2nd day because the fever persisted, however, she did continue to feed well and her activity level was fairly good. On day 3, the red rash appeared, which Dr. Lin had warned us was a possibility, and he told us if that occurred, our baby likely had a viral infection called Roseola and that her fever would break as soon as the rash appeared. It was incredible! Our daughter… was blotchy with rash, but just Dr. Lin had said, her fever disappeared! And she has been well ever since. My husband and I are so grateful to Dr. Lin for his patience, wisdom, and willingness to anticipate our concerns that he told us ahead of time a few of the things we might expect to happen. This knowledge really helped guide us in taking care of our daughter when there was no doctor around. We feel very lucky that Dr. Lin is our daughter's physician.

He is the worst Pediatrician ever. You can never ever talk with him on the phone, he always leave office early. Remember once my baby is the last patient for the day, but it was only 3:30pm, and he yeld at us: "hurry up, I need to go home now, it seems gonna rain outside." I could't even believe he said this to me. What really caused me so angry is what happend last week: I arrived home after work found out my 6 months baby boy got high fever, this is the first time in his life getting fever and me and my husband are first time being parents, so we got very nervous and dont know what to do. so I called Dr. Lin (it was only 6:50pm), he did not answer (of course), so i left him a voice message, and I called the urgent center which instructed in his auto message, the urgent center told me to call his cell phone, I told them i have tried and left him voice message, but Dr. Lin did not call me back after 30 mins. so they put me on hold and try to reach Dr. Lin on the line. And Dr. Lin… refuse to talk to me, just told urgent center people to tell me bring my baby to the emergency room. So I did, and cost me about $1000. two days later, my baby's fever reduced, but he had these redish things all over on his body, I was afraid, but it was sunday afternoon, I do not want to go to emergency room again because it will cost me another $1000, so i waited till the Monday morning bring my baby go see Dr. Lin in his Montery Park office. I can't believe his assistent refuse to see my baby, saying we did not make appointment, and Dr. Lin is busy have no time to see us, but they need to take about 2 and half hours for lunch break. I was sososo angry. I pay $298 monthly for insurance, and his office is open, do I still need to go see emergency room??? Anyway, i have no choice so i went back at 2:00pm after he comes back from lunch break, and I yeld at them no matter what you need to check out my baby today!!! He was no unpatient! Now i am writing this review, and I rate him the worst Pediatrician in the world. And I am changing my baby's Pediatrician right now!!!!
