A native of Crofton, Nebraska, Dr. Bruening completed her undergraduate studies in 1983 and earned her medical degree from the University of Nebraska in 1987. She went on to complete a residency in ophthalmology at Texas Tech University Health and Sciences Center. In 1991, she moved to Sioux City to open her own practice. Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles in multiple …professional organizations, including serving as president of both the Woodbury Medical Society and the Iowa Academy of Ophthalmology. She also completed the American Academy of Ophthalmology Leadership Development Program and served on its board and political action committee, as well as on the board of directors for the Iowa Medical Society.
