Dr. Beverly Laverne Roberts-Atwater, DO

I saw other doctors in this practice for 3 years prior to being pushed off on Atwater. One visit she’d want to change my meds to something higher when I’ve been stable for 6 years. Next visit she’d come in and immediately say “so we have to stop your meds”. What?! How do you go from one extreme to the other? I just wanted my normal dose and regimen I had been on for 6 years that worked for me and gave me a somewhat live-able life. Now they’ve just canceled all of my appts with no explanation. Never missed an appt, a drug test, a pill count. NOTHING.

Think very carefully before stepping into this poorly run practice. I can only warn others. Phone call are not returned, electronic visits are cancelled w/o notice., and you have recourse to nothing. Does not matter one whit how perfect of a patient you are, pill counts, clean urine, none of it matters. In fact, if you ask questions, or try to get answers, you will be warned that you will be dismissed. Forget this place, please! No matter how desperate!

First time I saw her was great. She talked and listened and layed out a great plan. Second time I saw her was like Jekyll and Hyde! I was in so much pain after waiting an hour and a half to be seen that I was in tears. She just bypassed her nurse and came in telling me that she knew I was there for meds. She was so rude and did not want to listen to a thing I said. I have left multiple Dr's that over-prescribe because it's the opposite of what I want. I want long-term help to live a semi-normal life. She just kept saying that I should just go to the ER every time I'm in pain. ??? First of all, what??? Secondly, that would be someone that just wants pain meds! What in the world. Really crazy experience. Completely blew my mind. Run. Run away as fast as you can.

The best Dr....she listens and responds calmly and professionally. She is firm but reasonably so

She's a liar and has no respect for her patient's.

Dr.Beverly Roberts Atwater is by far the fakest dr. Thst i have ever seen in my life!!! One visit she attentive and sweet..Next she's Betty Davis an Joan Crawford mixed. It depends on what appointment day you catch her on if she's gonna A winch.If you by any chance on her bad day call her out-She calls her rude linebacker Goon nurse/security in an a discussion that cleary she doesn't want to finish herself.The guy who runs the Pain management department is out the loop of everything.He cleary doesn't know what goes on in the office he suppose to run.Miss an appointment an you did call to reschedule-the line backer nurse will lie an say you didn't..to save her own butt because she 4got to let the Dr know..The will kick you out so fast-with no meds..I almost flipped know i was gonna be without pain medication-I could have went to jail.I was warned about her and the practice before hand.I was like it cant be that bad..It was worst.. DONT GO TO EVMS- IFF YOU WANT YOUR MEDICINE… PROMPTLY..THEY WILL LIE AND SAY YOU GOT..THEM MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE AN ADDICT..

Not only does she look down on her patients. But she accuses them of lying about things that are on record. She never examined me at all. When she came into the room as a new patient, she ask what did I want. When I said excuse me. She changed it to what do you want from me. I informed her what my doctor sent me for. And she asked what was my main problem. I informed her I have a blood disease and she then went on to cut me off. And tell me I am going to die. (As if I haven't heard that sense birth.) After telling me that, she then told me to choose how I'm gonna die. After almost an hour of her telling me I will die over 10 times, then she accused me of lying. Then asked did the meds help, I said yes as much as they can. but I'm able to work again. So that makes a big difference. She then tells me she wants to change my meds by taking me off them and trying a electronic wave that stimulates the pain area. I informed her that, that may not work. And I've tried a lot of things and when… I'm in pain it's my whole body. Sickle cell is not like a car accident or a basketball injury. It's a blood disease. She really didn't know to much about sickle cell. And wanted to know if I'd start by changing my break through pain med to a deferent molecule. I said yes. I'm down for trying. Even though it took me and my doctor a long time to find something that works for me. But I am willing. She didn't know what she wanted to change it to, at that time. So leaving the appointment she came out to me and informed me that she gone check to see if I am lying to her about my meds being filled in September. I informed her it may be that I went to another pharmacy cause my regular pharmacy is closed on weekends and holidays. I was confused and hurt. She did that in front of people in the waiting room. I cried all the way home. All my life I've had to deal with I wouldn't make it past this time and this age. For me personally she did more harm then anything. Still tried to give her a chance I said maybe she just need to get to know me. So I set another appointment and I called for my prescription. Her assistant called almost two weeks after I ran out. Saying she would not help me. (She lied and said) That I would not cooperate with a med change. That she would only take me off my meds and that's it. I will say DONT AND I MEAN DONT GO TO HER. I LEFT FEELING HOPELESS.

Unprofessional, rude, judgmental and overall a snob that looks down her nose at everyone... Seek Another Dr. ASAP. Don't waste your time.

I would not recommend evms pain management. My experience with them left me feeling judged. If you have a question, speaking to a live person is close to impossible. I left several messages and my calls were not returned.
