Dr. Bhoumesh Manojkumar Patel, MD

Dr. Bhoumesh Patel is a dual-trained cardiothoracic anesthesiologist and critical care physician with specialized expertise in the management of cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, and ECMO. He was recruited from Yale University, where he served as Co-Director of the ECMO Program and Associate Program Director for the Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship. His clinical practice focuses on the care of critically ill patients with advanced cardiac disease, and he has led multidisciplinary teams in high-acuity cardiac surgical intensive care units. 

Dr. Patel also holds a Master’s in Medical Education from Yale, with a focus on assessment science and simulation-based learning. He has authored multiple publications on ECMO education and continues to develop national curricula and assessment tools to improve training and standardization in this evolving field. At Hackensack Meridian Health, he leads faculty development initiatives within the Department of …Anesthesiology, supports the growth of the residency program, and mentors medical students and trainees.

Nationally recognized for his contributions to cardiac critical care and education, Dr. Patel serves on several committees within the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA), the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), and the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA), where he helps shape the future of the specialty through innovation, quality improvement, and leadership in medical education.
