Dr. Bill George Shumate, MD

Nothing hurts your family budget more then multiple trips to the doctor when the solution was there the first time. The name of this practice should be changed to " Once we have gouged you for 3 visits, then we'll solve the problem/issue". It seems like everything is based upon doing little small changes at a time then having you come back in and check, make another small change and then another bill (ooops I mean check in to see what they did not fix) and then make the final change. I have had 3 instances like this at their office. One with myself, one with my son and the final straw with my wife.

Dose not force medications on you.

My whole family were patients of Dr. Shumate's before we left the area and had to find a new provider- which I was devastated about. I have never had a doctor listen and respond as thoroughly as Dr. Shumate. I am largely in favor of a laid back approach to medicine as well as delayed and selective vaccines which Dr. Shumate respected. He has 11 children of his own (no joke) which his wife homeschools (no joke) so I often felt comfortable asking what he did with his own children and felt he responded quite honestly and I was always pleased to hear that his approach is not extreme in one direction or the other but instead a well-rounded approach to medicine. Really stand-up doctor whom I highly reccommend.

Dr. Shumate is an exceptional doctor. Besides seeming very knowledgeable, he does something that many other doctors do not do; he listens and responds to what you have to say. Instead of a "diagnose and throw pills at it" doctor he is more of a "diagnose, take your input, and adjust the procedure to fix the issue" doctor. I highly recommend him.
