Dr. Bina I Mirza, MD

I have been a patient of Dr Mirza for 6 years. She is the best at taking time and explaining what is going on medically with me. I started with the Dr after having a kidney removed because of a cancerous growth. At first my condition was borderline but with her expertise she has nursed me back to being healthy with one kidney. If I could give her a 10, I would.

Needed a Doctor. in close area to home. called doctors office, had appt in 5 minutes, and saw her within 30. She spent a lot of time with me what explaining what the results would mean and what her decision would depend on. i asked her to be my permanent nephorologist.

Unfortunately Dr. Mirza does not honor her mission statement. About a year in a half ago Dr. Mirza sent me to get an emergency CT scan. The test showed an Acute Aortic Dissection. An emergency surgery was nescessary and no local Dr was found to do it. So I was sent to NorthWestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. They saved my life. However, to my surprise, when the bill came, Dr Mirza denied the referral. I had an HMO. She stated she did not send me there because the hospital was not in my network because it was too expensive. My insurance ended up paying the main bill because it was an emergency. But the bills after that, I'm still paying. I trusted Dr. Mirza with my life and she violated that trust. The only question I have for her is: where did she send me when she knew the possibility of me making it to the hospital alive was very slim?
