Dr. Bipul Roy, MD

My husband was hospitalized and diagnosed with afib and congestive heart failure. Upon being sent home we were told to follow up with Dr Roy. When we saw him we were completely dismissed. He told my husband to lose weight, he refused to discuss either the afib or congestive heart failure and told us to come back in three months. We found a cardiac specialist that was highly rated and saw him as soon as we could. Within two weeks he had a heart cath done that revealed blockages ranging from 85 - 99%. He was hospitalized for two weeks being tested and treated. He had a total of three heart cath procedures. The damage revealed was so extensive that he was placed on the heart transplant list within 5 weeks of his initial hospitalization. Dr Roy should not be practicing. He is grossly incompetent as well as dismissive. I believe firmly that, had we followed his orders, that my husband would be dead.

I sincerely cannot recommend him to anybody. He is condescending and dismissive and does not communicate important information. He told me I just had palpitations. I found out about my actual heart problems by reading my patient portal! I informed him that we are not compatible in a patient/doctor relationship.

Mr. Bipul Roy is one of the worst doctors that I have ever been treated by, and in my opinion does not deserve the title Doctor. He is so smug, and does not let the patient talk. He is a man of many words, completely ignorant, and the kind of a person that should consider doing some kind of behind the scene work, and not talk with patients. He's young and dumb, and whatever smarts he may have does not across when he speaks. As I said before, he speaks many words, but most of what he says is guessing, wrong, and/or low hanging fruit kind of stuff.... DO YOURSELF A FAVOR SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR!!!

Was assigned Dr. Roy,(Southshore Cardiovascular Associates) when I was in Brandon Hospital for AFib. where he performed a successful Electrical cardioversion. No problem there. Problems were over billing, ( Caught by Blue Cross) and a $332.74 consultation from Dr.Potroski, also of Southshore Cardio Assoc. Potroski's consult consisted of coming to my hospital room, shaking my hand and giving me his business card. On a personal note I found Dr. Roy to be condesending.

I had the unpleasant misfortune to have to deal with this Dr. I WILL NEVER deal with him again, To start his staff is NASTY, and un professional with the patients. They speak to you like you are beneath them. After you speak with the Dr Roy , you understand why. He is a cardiologist, you would think he would have a decent bedside manner, he is dealing with patients who have a critical disease. He is un professional, he speaks down to you and he has a severe GOD COMPLEX. How dare he YELL at a patient, he does not explain, he berades.

I would recommend Dr. Roy to everyone. Top notch.

I had a stress test and an echocardiogram done at riverview office. Dr Roy came into see me an said "Great news! your test results are all good" I then stated, during my nuclear stress test I had excrutiating chest pain and was given aminophylline to reverse and slow down my heart rate . the pain left me feeling exhausted. I further told Dr Roy that I was having angina daily. (I have heart disease and multiple stents since 2005 so I am aware of what angina is)I was informed by Dr Roy that I was not having angina. and then stated that he had other patients to see. I left his office. by the time I walked to my car I was having angina again. I then immediately found a wonderful cardiologist who LISTENED TO ME. This new cardiologist upon hearing of my daily angina arranged for a cardiac cath. he told me that stress test were not always accurate. He believed what I was telling him about my angina. by the next day I was at Tampa General. I had 2 BLOCKAGES OVER 95% BLOCKED AND HAD 2 MORE… STENTS PLACED!! I am so glad I had enough sense even if Dr Roy did not, in my opinion, he is not thorough. I remember one of my doctors from NY told me "I don't hanky panky with the heart" in other words when it comes to the heart you better take it serious and listen to your patients. if someone who has extensive heart disease and multiple stents tells you I am having angina that is something to take VERY SERIOUSLY. ITS A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH.
