Dr. Blake A Zika, DO

The worst experience I’ve ever experienced in my life. He was extremely dismissive. I came in with a bug bite that obviously caused an allergic reaction and he didn’t even look at the site of the bite. He just said oh it’s just a bug bite. It’ll go away in a few days. I couldn’t put any weight on my feet because the bite cause extreme swelling. He wouldn’t give me any medicine while there for almost six hours. Told me to take some antibiotics from the pharmacy and sent me on my way. I immediately went to a different hospital. I was experiencing an allergic reaction and it was infected. If I hadn’t been treated, it could have spread to my entire body. I am warning you with extreme caution to stay away from this man. I can’t even call him a doctor. I am utterly disgusted.

My experience today was in all honesty a waste of time. I came in with sharp chest pains and was sent out the door with naproxen and told it was totally normal to experience the pain I was having. Nothing about having sharp chest pains and having a hard time breathing is normal. When I asked him about the labs, the EKG and chest X-ray that had been taken almost 5hrs prior he hadn’t even checked them. This guy is honestly clueless and you’re better off not saying anything about your history because he will quickly jump to conclusions instead of giving you an actual/proper evaluation. I get it, I came to the ER to get seen but if I spent 5hrs just to checked into a room and I had a conversation that lasted less than 2 minutes with this guy. What’s his purpose? I came here to be evaluated not to have almost 7hrs of my time wasted and walk out with the same exact pain I walked in with, but still no explanation on why I’m experiencing it.

Best doctor ever. Very thorough and efficient. Saved the lives of me and my children.

this guy is not only dumb, but also abusive. he likes abusing patients, and doesn't know what he's doing. AVOID AT ALL COST. he should get zero stars for being a criminal in an er.

Manatee memorial was a great hospital. Dr. Zika was not a great doctor. I am young and was having lower left abdominal pain. He dismissed me as a drug seeker (I heard his comments about it as I'm sure the other patients did too) and sent me home. The pain continued and my Dr sent me back to the ER. Again got Dr Zika and was dismissed with no tests or any diagnosis and again with the rude comments around the nurses station. I called my surgeon about the symptoms and he admitted me at once, did a cat scan and found out I had acute diverticulitus. I was there 3 days on iv antibiotics. My Dr said it was a huge error that should have been the first thing they looked for dispite my age. It could have had major complications. Dr Zika judged me strictly based on my age and refused to take me seriously. I've never been treated like that before and hope no one else ever is. His prejudice almost cost me my life. I'm very disapointed and suggest once you're stable to seek a second opinion.

Excellent bedside manner, knowledgable thorough and took the time to explain everything to me did not make me feel rushed or anything as many drs do. Really liked him
