I am 26. I have a nice full bottom lip but a thin upper lip. I know several people whom have used DR. Shatkin for cosmetic procedures. I have never had an elective procedure before. I was very nervous. Dr. Shatkin eased my nervousness. We discussed options for fillers. I settled on Perlane-L. He put numbing cream on my lip. It stung a little but was over quick and easy. My lip became very swollen by the end of the day. The next day my lip was almost back to "normal" size. The following week the rest of the swelling diminished. I didn't really bruise, and was able to used lipstick to hide it. I love my results and the down time was minimal. I also don't feel any hard lumps in my lips (I can tell something is in there but it doesn't feel like rocks). I hope this helps! I will let you know when I get more procedures done!
