I had called ChristianaCare after hours to report ongoing infection symptoms that were not resolved by being on the antibiotic Augmentin, and my call was picked up by Bobbie McCready who, after I had explained calmly and patiently my present symptoms, initially acknowledged that I had been to the ER “a couple of times” (it was more than a couple) but then claimed that “doctors are trained in emergency departments in hospitals to look for sepsis” and stated “that MediClinic’s are not.” When I had told her I had gone to actual local hospitals with ER doctors and nurses, and reported what those specific ER doctors and nurses had told me about how they are only trained to look for life-threatening symptoms and even stated that I didn’t fit “their criteria” for sepsis, even though my symptoms did match with those for sepsis, Bobbie McCready kept arguing that “ER doctors and hospitals are trained to look for it” and she kept inferring about MediClinics. After I repeated that I had been to… actual hospitals with actual ER doctors and nurses, she began yelling at me over the phone and medically gaslighted me further. Her unprofessional behavior is shocking and unnecessary and quite frankly is a disgrace to her chosen profession. Since then, I have been in touch with the Sepsis Alliance group and received further professional medical referrals to sepsis expert Dr. Tom Ahrens of St Louis who is raising awareness about sepsis and how to encourage many hospitals and doctors to recognize the early signs of and to thoroughly diagnose and treat sepsis in its earliest forms. Needless to say, I do not recommend MSN; FNP-C, Bobbie McCready, for any medical assistance or advice and frankly her establishment she works for need to work on thoroughly testing their own staff to be as aware of sepsis protocols and early recognition and early treatment. Please, do not be afraid to be your own medical advocate and remember you don’t have to tolerate medical gaslighting as demonstrated by nurse practitioner Bobbie McCready and ChristianaClinic or any of that like.
