Dr. Chien received the Resident Executive Committee Award from the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program (HCORP) and completed her orthopedic subspecialty fellowship in foot and ankle at the Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Chien is active in academic research, publishing many articles, abstracts, and book chapters on ankle fractures, the management of diabetic feet, infection prevention, and total ankle replacement. As more advanced techniques in reconstruction evolve, she hopes to focus on studying if newer technologies, such as advances in implants, make a difference and are cost-effective. Dr. Chien is an active member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society (RJOS), the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Medical Association (AMA), and serves as a representative for the Health Policy Committee.
Dr. Chien enjoys global exchange in orthopedic foot and surgery and has traveled internationally to Colombia, Malawi, and India to teach and perform surgeries. Dr. Chien speaks conversational Spanish and is fluent in Chinese in addition to English. With her upbringing abroad and exposure to other parts of the world, she is passionate about learning different cultures and languages and connecting with a diverse patient population in and around New York.
