Dr. Bozena Kocztorz, MD

Dr K is knowledgeable and has a bedside manner that can make you feel like you count and not just another patient. Thank you Dr K for being there for us Veterans. I hope that the VA appreciates you as much as we all do.

I was disappointed to hear about the lack of continuity of care that my dad received at his recent appointment with Dr. Bozena Kocztorz. He went to get his pre-visit labs drawn as asked and when he went to do so, Dr. K had not placed orders for those labs. Then, when he went to the appointment with her, she claimed that she did not have the results of the previsit labs. However, I absolutely know that my father went for his previsit labs drawn. When my Dad was at the lab draw station, she ordered the blood. I know this because she spoke personally to the lab tech. The result of this was that my dad received poor care. I would not recommend her to anyone. But what is more bothersome is that she is taking care of some of the most vulnerable people in our community: our vets. This the biggest disappointment of all.

I was a former patient of Dr. K. Unfortunately, the experience(s) I had with her was overall negative. The thing that bothered me the most is that there was no follow up on a prescribed medication that caused a bad/adverse reaction. The second thing that was bothersome was that I went to get my previsit labs, and there was no order for them to be drawn. The lab tech then called Dr K's office-- the lab tech then called the nurse, who was in direct conversation with Dr. K (I knew this because I could clearly hear Dr. K speaking as she has a European accent). When I had my labs ordered, there were urine test orders but no blood test orders. When I followed up in clinic, she blamed me for not having my labs drawn. She reported to me that she had never talked to the technician at the lab. I know for a fact that she did talk to him because I was sitting right next to the technician and I could hear her talking to him. Instead of having my labs drawn at that time, she had me sent… home with NO labs and I was told to follow up 6 months later. At the time of my 6-month visit, she finally ordered labs. To my surprise, my A1C was quite elevated. As a result of this, she did not really offer any solutions. What she told me is that I should go to diabetes education to learn more about the disease process. She told me that I was a "non-compliant patient" because I did not attend the diabetes education course. There are some other issues that I would like to address, but do not want to get into at this time. But given the opportunity to give my opinion about Dr. K., I would give her a negative rating. Every appointment was like I was starting over with her. She would look on the computer to see who I was, but it was if she had no idea that I'd been there in the past to see her. I would not recommend her, unfortunately.

I’m writing this on behalf of my father, a Vietnam vet. This doctor has treated him poorly and was belittling to him. As a fellow health care provider, I was very disappointed in her unprofessionalism. I would never recommend her to anyone.

I am 75 years old and have had a few general practitioners in my life and doctor Kocztorz ids the most caring and knowledgeable medical professional I have ever had the had. I just cannot say or praise her enough.
