Dr. Brad Dewayne Thigpen, DO

This doctor (Brad Thigpen) has no regard for (black) human life. I have Sickle Cell Anemia and was referred to this “high risk dr”. 14 years ago after a regular check-up at 25 weeks pregnant I found the sex of my baby. A precious girl. Later that week I received a phone call that my urine had protein and I had preeclampsia. I felt fine but was told to go to the hospital for monitoring. Upon arrival, despite feeling fine I was admitted. After a few days of “monitoring” my regular obstetrician Dr. Boone, told me everything looked fine and told me special accommodations for the rest of my pregnancy to be healthy. I was excited to get discharged, however an hour later my “high risk” doctor barges in the room and says “ready to deliver”! Of course I wasn’t. I was only 26 weeks pregnant. At the age of 21 with no family or support around me I began sobbing asking why. He said my baby stopped growing, my blood pressure was increasing and I was at high risk for stroke at the time. He told me… the best solution was emergency c-section. I then requested Dr.Boone and he came and recanted his previous statements saying that “Dr.Thigpen is the specialist” I remember the nurse comforting me and telling me to continue with my pregnancy and she also told Dr.Thigpen she’d always look at him differently. Needless to say being emotionally distraught I went on with the emergency c-section being emotionally and scared from what the so called professional doctor informed me. The only support I had was a stranger nurse. This man intentionally scared me into delivering my baby 14 weeks early. After delivery he USED her prematurity to promote “bubble Cpap” which she was in the news for twice during her 6 month NICU visit. Now as a middle aged woman… fully grown and mature, I realize he used us. My baby was sacrificed! I regret the day I got prenatal care. I was fine until I received care from this MAN. He’s merely a man that doesn’t value (black) life.

He was a very nice guy and answered any questions I had. He explained everything to me and my family in ways that we would better understand. Amazing Dr

I was referred to Dr, Thigpen earlier this year. He and his staff were professional, talented and compassionate. He works with a network of other perinatologists that are equally as talented. If I had a friend or family member I would certainly recommend they see Dr. Thigpen or another doctor at the Obstetrix Medical Group.

Dr. Thigpen is the most awesome doctor I have ever met. He knows what he is doing, takes extra steps to insure the patient is happy, he is fun and explains things in simple human language. We were so happy we got to see him almost every week! He made my high risk pregnancy less stressful! He is so good! Highly recommended.

I had an equally horrible experience. I was told that I could not have a particular test done and he left my husband and I with unanswered questions and the expectation to wait three to four weeks until another test could be performed. In fact what he said was "this baby will give you trouble." We left there feeling completely puzzled, overwhelmed and saddened. Called the next day to ask some more questions and he did not return the call for two days. Nurse staff was very kind and empathic during our very negative appointment. He lacks bedside manner and even misread the sonogram incorrectly once we had been seen by another expert. He is definitely not recommended but apparently gets the referrals as there are not many doctors that practice in this particular area. I would probably ask to see the other doctor in the clinic.

I had a horrible experience with this doctor at a time when I was very vulnerable. I was completely misinformed by Dr. Thigpen when my pregnancy was possibly high risk. He would not perform a procedure on me due to misreading a level 2 sonogram twice. He was friendly, but not informative and was not able to thoroughly answer some of my questions. Thankfully, I got a second opinion from another doctor and this second doctor gave me completely different(correct) information and was able to perform the procedure on me. The staff was friendly, but I do not recommend this doctor.

My ob referred me to Dr. Thigpen during my last pregnancy three years ago and again for my current pregnancy due to gestational diabetes. He is very professional and caring. He patiently answers any questions or concerns. His staff is always friendly and kind as well. I like that the atmosphere amongst his office is kind, peaceful and easygoing. I feel confident about my pregnancy under his and my current ob's care.
