Summary

Braden H. Giswold-D.D.S.
Dr. Braden believes oral health is vitally important for good overall health and quality of life. He makes dental care and better health more accessible for all by providing comfortable, honest, and high quality dental treatment.
Dr. Braden Giswold aims to provide the best, most up-to-date, comprehensive, and comfortable dental care to the South Whidbey community. He believes that by making education a priority he can provide the best care to his patients, and better guide them through education and therapy to optimal health. By travelling the country to attend continuing education courses many times every year, he stays on the cutting edge of current care.
He also understands that to provide the best care, it is important to take the time to listen to the patient, recognize their needs and preferences, educate them about their condition and treatment options, and finally, together with the patient, form a course of treatment that is best for their unique situation.
Dr. Braden understands very well the oral-systemic health connection and recommends treatments that not only improve the patient’s oral health, but their whole body health as well. Dr. Braden only uses biocompatible materials such as composite, porcelain or gold, rather than mercury containing silver fillings to ensure that the patient’s health isn’t compromised by dental materials.
Patient comfort is another of Dr. Braden’s priorities. During the visit, he takes time to be sure the patient has everything they need to be comfortable. He offers every patient a pillow, blanket, noise cancelling headphones, and Nitrous Oxide laughing gas. He takes the time to deliver comfortable local anesthesia, and be sure the patient is adequately numb before beginning. He does everything he can to ensure the patient’s experience at the office is comfortable and positive.
Braden graduated from the dental school at the University of Washington. During his time there, he received the award for Excellence in Operative Dentistry by the National Association of Gold Foil Operators, and the award for Excellence in Preclinical Fixed Prosthodontics from the University Of Washington Department Of Prosthodontics.
Dr. Braden has a profound passion for helping those in need. It began during a 6 month visit to Ecuador during college where he met many people with treatable oral disease.  However, with no access to dental care, the disease was allowed to progress, and their health allowed to deteriorate. During that trip, he realized the important care he could provide as a dentist and volunteer. He began volunteering during Dental School. He provided free dental care for homeless teens at the 45th Street Clinic in Seattle. He also traveled to Juneau, Alaska to serve a month in a community health clinic for Alaskan Native People. More recently, Dr. Braden traveled to the mountains of Guatemala for a month and provided dental care to impoverished indigenous people.
Dr. Braden is a true Islander. Born at Whidbey General, and raised in Langley, he spent his childhood fishing and crabbing in Useless Bay, skim boarding on the tide flats of Double Bluff, and picking Chanterelle and Matsutake mushrooms in the Saratoga Woods. From his first years of education at the Children’s Center in Langley, to when he graduation from South Whidbey High School, Braden benefitted from the beautiful setting, and people, that make up the community.  Now, as Doctor Braden, he has returned to do his part to serve his home-town community of South Whidbey.
