Dr. Bradford Tan, MD

Bradford Tan, M.D., is the President Emeritus of Medical Staff for City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, and currently serves as medical director of both the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the Stem Cell Laboratory. A board-certified pathologist with more than 30 years’ experience working closely with patients and other clinical providers, Dr. Tan is dedicated to ensuring patients at City of Hope receive accurate diagnoses and test results as quickly and efficiently as possible, so their cancer care teams can determine the best course of treatment for them. After earning his medical degree at the Cebu Institute of Medicine in the Philippines, Dr. Tan completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals in Chicago. Triple-board certified in clinical pathology, anatomic pathology and cytopathology, he’s a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and American Society for Clinical Pathology. In his …role as head of laboratory services and pathology at City of Hope Chicago, he oversees a team that provides state-of-the-art testing for patients, with the goal of helping each individual receive the most targeted cancer treatment possible. A devoted physician-scientist with published articles in multiple peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Tan has been recognized with many awards and honors, including a 2011 U.S. News & World Report “Top Doctors” ranking and multiple appearances on Castle Connolly's “Top Doctors®” lists.
