I've seen Dr. Helms for over 10 years for Degenerative Disc Disease pain/problems and Neuropthy. He listens and if something isn't working he always prescribes meds or therapy that will help me.

Learning life from a wheelchair stinks! About 4 years ago after learning that my condition was inoperable I was devastated and itâ??s complicated by several other health conditions which makes it very difficult to monitor and treat. Finding qualified healthcare professionals has been a challenge to say the least. However, since I have had medical issues from childhood I do have some experience when it comes to knowing if my doctors and nurses are providing superior care. I have found that sometimes it's easier to find doctors who are so concerned about making sure their patients like them, that they sugar coat a diagnosis or just say what the patient wants to hear. Unfortunately that can lead to all kinds of future problems. This is not true with Dr. Helms. He cares enough about his patients health and well-being to tell you the truth. His honest approach may take a little getting used to, but he is caring and kind and truly wants your best. His extensive knowledge of Rehabilitation… Medicine is complemented by his understanding of how the human body functions under chronic pain conditions and its ability to respond to different types of medications including how those medications interact. There is his understanding of the emotional and psychological effects of dealing with back and neck issues as it relates to rehabilitation in addition to what debilitating conditions bring to the equation. He embraces the challenge of providing tools and practical solutions on how to deal with the everyday challenges when dealing with chronic pain and illness. So now you have a pretty good idea of why I highly recommend Dr. Helms is an excellent physician! He not only encompasses all these qualities, but he is a man of integrity and his treatment is ethical and honest. One of the things I value most is being able to ask the hard questions and getting honest answers. When I know what I have to deal with I can move forward and make educated decisions about my care. I am very pleased that I have been privileged enough to have him as part of my health care team.

I was sent to Dr. Helms as a Independent Medical Examination. He asked what Drs. were doing for my Fibromyalgia, I said Chiropractic, meds, and I loved massage even though none of these last 2 days. I said I saw a Kinesiologist, he said that wasn't a real Drs. practice, and that you can rate it with "biology". Applied Kinesiology is indeed a medical practice, a very good one! Of course, he's a PAID MEDICAL JUNKIE who will not support my case at all, but I hated that remark.

I have seen Dr. Helms for over 5 years for chronic pain of Neuropathy, RA, Reynauds and Fibromyalgia. He always listens and we go over TOGETHER what the options to try to control whatever my worst pain is on that particular day. He keeps me very involved, when it comes to new medication, etc. Also, he knows it is difficult to get time off work for appointments, so we discuss when the best time for me would be to see him for my next appointment. To be quite honest, I worry about who will help me when he may move or retire. I saw several pain specialists before Dr. Helms & they did not treat me with much courtesy or give me options...
