Born and raised in Michigan, Dr. VanHoose completed his undergraduate education at Michigan State University and dental school at the University of Michigan. At Michigan State University, Dr. VanHoose received his bachelor of science in the study of human physiology. Deciding that the medical / dental field was his career choice, he attended the University of Michigan to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During dental school, Dr. VanHoose decided that oral and maxillofacial surgery was his calling and attended the nationally renowned Ohio State University residency program where he received his certificate and master of science degree. In addition to private practice, Dr. VanHoose is on staff at Spectrum Butterworth and Blodgett Hospitals in Grand Rapids, MI. and Pennock Hospital in Hastings, MI. Dr. VanHoose has expanded his scope of practice by becoming an instructor at the Michigan State University Division of Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery through the Department of …Surgery where he teaches the plastic surgery residents the full scope of facial trauma surgery. He has lectured to professional groups and community organizations covering various topics, and he is a member of the following associations: American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Michigan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, West Michigan Dental Association, and the Kent County Dental Society.

Dr. Vanhoose listened to me when I explained my pain to him. He immediately noticed the problem with my jaw joint and was able to start a treatment plan. His staff is wonderful. Today I am sleeping better and am not in pain. Thank you Dr. Vanhoose for actually taking the time to listen to me. Roberta

Do not use this office. They are completely unreliable and not to be trusted. They cancelled my son's wisdom teeth surgery on the Friday afternoon before he was scheduled on Monday morning because I was "unavailable" by phone to confirm the appointment. I was at work all day and didn't get home to receive the message until after 3. This is a horrible way to do business and any medical office who conducts business this way should not be trusted to do surgery on your children.

I felt very at ease when I was at this office for my tooth to be extracted. I have to say I was quite nervous when I went in. Both the front desk girls were smiling when they checked me in. I felt like a person instead of a $ sign. And I truly think they know the insurance stuff better than me. When the tooth was extracted? oh my goodness the extraction took less time than the numbing itself. The doc was great walked me thru what was happening next. The assistants answered all of my questions like a doctor. very informative. The next day I got a call on how I was doing. I've never had that before. I would really had a great experience.

The staff at this office is amazing. Going to the dentist isn't fun for anyone, but these people know what they are doing. My nurse Amber, was an angel. I have never had anyone treat me so genuinely or caring. I highly recommend this Dr.

I recently had my wisdom teeth pulled at Dr. Vanhoose's office. I was a bit nervous about having surgery but the staff made me feel very comfortable. Everyone is so friendly and I would recommend anyone I know to this office for oral surgery. They are quick to take you in and take care of your problems! I am very satisfied and thankful!!
