Dr. Brent Anthony Clower, DO

This doctor put my friend in tears, he basically told her that because she had been assaulted that she was abusing her pain medications, when she had back surgery, a spinal fusion disc replacement, and is in chronic pain everyday. Now, because someone assaulted her, she is too much of a risk to be treated like a human being in pain because there are people out there who abuse things after they've been assaulted. Someone having been assaulted may mean that they are at risk of abusing alcohol, medications, many things, but it is not the rule that everyone will. My friend has been through extensive counseling, is in therapy, she came forward, she told people what happened to make sure the person who hurt her will not do it to other women, but now her strength is being underestimated, undermined, and men get to tell her that being honest and forthcoming is getting her punished to the point where she will have to live in pain all because she was honest and didn't keep it a secret, as many… women do. Absolutely wrong. The people who abuse medications do not go to a doctor and say what happened to them, they don't tell anyone, how dare he tell any woman as strong as her that BC she is a risk, she will have to now live her entire life in physical pain. She should be treated like a hero, because she saved many women from what happened to her, not told that because she is open and honest to those treating her, that she is a risk and not strong enough to cope without being at major risk of abusing her medications. She has no history of abuse. She has a history of unbelievable strength and courage, instead of highlighting that, thanking her for ACTUALLY DOING something to HELP keep other humans her age OUT of pain, by making sure the person who assaulted her is held accountable, despite all the uproar it caused, instead of realizing her courage and thanking her for taking steps to assure many other women don't also get hurt, he reduced her to numbers and risk, and the risk DIDNT outweigh the reward of having this beautiful person's physical pain to be treated. I'm astounded. At least she has a history of keeping people out of pain, and she didn't even need a medical degree to do so. Also, she definitely kept those the person could gave assaulted from being reduced to a number and risk level? They will never get assaulted, so I guess their physical pain will be able to be treated.... Ridiculous.

I had a preconceived belief that pain drs hand out drugs, take your money and never give you another thought until the next time. This COULD NOT be further from the truth with Dr. Clower! During my first visit he spent more time with me then any other Dr EVER has (with the exception of the rheumatologist) and by the second visit he had my records from all of my Drs not just the referring one, and he had not only reviewed them but had made a list (not just 1 or 2) of questions about them. He is caring, respectful, compassionate, and explains confusing things patiently in a way that helps you understand without being condescending! I feel like he has taken a major role in my healthcare team that goes far beyond just writing prescriptions! If you are looking for a pain Dr that isn't a pill pusher Dr. Clower is for you! I can not say enough good things about him! You will not only love him but his staff is amazing! Maria is amazing! She truly found her calling in the medical field. Every… time you see her she is genuinely glad to see you! She takes her time with you and goes above and beyond to help you with all she can. Maria has a kind spirit that made puts you at ease she was my first sign I had made the right choice in Drs. each and every person I have met has been extremely kind and understanding.. I'm sorry this is so long but as someone who has suffered for the last few years finding Atlanta Pain Physicians has been a godsend! They can and will change your life if you are suffering do not hesitate to contact them!
