Dr. Brent Koichi Tamamoto, MD

I'm not sure why the other people posted such negative comments. I have been taking my daughter here since we moved to the Island a couple of years ago. He is very kind and caring. He has never refused to see my daughter or respond to an after hours concern no matter how often I thought I needed my daughter to be seen or had questions. Being a nervous first time mother, alone in a new place he has been a lifesaver. You may wait a half hour for your childs appointment, but that's only because he is a good Doctor. He actually listens to you, he interacts with and examines your child. You are not rushed out or pushed through in 10 minutes. He does provide pamphlets, which I personally find helpful. They are always related to ny daughters current visit concerns or milestones, things we are having issues with. He provides explanation, guidance and the printed information which also have additional resources on them. The office might not be the best, but the care he provides is.

Horrible bed side manner, dirty office, no bathroom, doesn’t see my sick child unless they have a fever(tries to diagnose over the phone) and pushes you not to bring child in to be seen. I switched doctors because he didn’t want to see my son and come to find out he had a sinus infection. I do not trust this doctor with my children.

This doctor don’t care if you have an appointment. It always takes him 30 mins to hour to see you after your scheduled appt time. If you have any concerns or questions about your children, he will answer you in an arrogant or condescending way. I would not recommend this doctor. Especially if this is your first child and first time parents has lots of concerns and questions. This doctor will not show any compassion or understanding to you or your child.

0 stars. Pompous, rude, and disgusting bedside manner. If you want a doctor with professionalism this is not the doctor for you.

We love Dr. Tamamoto. We don't go in as much as our children are older, but we are so pleased with him. I'm disappointed that nurse Jenny isn't there anymore. We miss her dearly! She did amazingly great with our children who felt comfortable with her. I believe when Nurse Jenny left some of the staff left because there are new nurses there now which are all sweet.

My daughter was sick and we were visiting from the mainland. I had called around and no one was accepting our insurance. Dr. Tamamoto was very friendly and inviting. They saw me that day. i did not mind waiting because we were glad they could see us. His staff just as friendly. They saw me and thankfully my daughter did not have the Flu. They did tests which were negative. The nurses were gentle and calm with my daughter. If we were staying here we would definitely come back. There were no issues with billing us.

Dr. Tamamoto is a very nice doctor. He spends a good deal of time answering all of my questions, which I really appreciate. I always have a lot of questions and don't ever feel rushed. Sometimes I even go in with a list on paper. I also like how he has books in his office instead of a TV. I don't doubt the TV can keep kids "calm" while we wait, but we're okay reading to our kids while we wait. There's also a big poster of the United States in the waiting room with little pictures of what's in each state. Our kids love looking at the poster and playing "can you find ___" on the poster. I think the office is clean. I'm not sure why the other person said it wasn't. There are scuff marks on the floor and some posters are ripped and taped, but other then that it was clean.

i am new to the island and decided to call around. i had a few consults with other doctors. my bf and i made a decision on a pediatrician before we met dr. tamamoto. when i called i spoke to the nurse named jen. she was incredibly helpful and friendly! getting a appointment was easy and she accommodated me with the time and date i wanted. when i got there i was welcomed by the staff. to comment from the previous review, there office was very clean! i liked how they had a book shelf rather than a tv. i was seen very quickly. the room was very clean! i had been to other offices and they were old and had drawings all over the wall. im not sure how that person saw cob webs because i didnt see any. i guess i could say the legs of the chairs scuffed the floors but it was not bad. the nurse i made the appointment with was the same nurse that spoke with us before the doctor came in. she was just as nice in person as she was over the phone. she gave lots of information that the other offices… did not. we waited about 10-15 minutes before we saw doctor. he was very personal and nice. he sat and listened to us and answered all our questions. he spent 30 minutes with us!! id id not feel rushed at all. after the visit, we immediately set up the next appointment which was very easy. i LOVE it there and recommend it to anyone.

I would not recommend this office. The nurses were pretty good, the doc was just ok, the front desk staff were just ok, and the office was DIRTY. There is no bathroom for the patients and 'the staff only' bathroom is similar to that of a gas station in terms of grime. The rooms are tiny, the floors are very dirty with cobwebs around, the walls look like they haven't been touched in years, and it just felt grimy. I can't believe they are passing health examinations. I've been to many various doc offices over the years and am totally fine with small and old AS LONG as it is clean! I was very unimpressed and will never take my kids there again. Do not trust these people with the health of your children. If they can't take steps to keep their office clean how can I expect them to use sterile, clean instruments and needles?! I am really not being dramatic--I just want to deeply impress upon people that it is not a safe environment for your children's health!
