Dr. Brett Tyler Quave, MD

(This review is for his work at Southern Oregon Pain, on Lear Way in Medford) I'm not shocked this business has so many 1-star reviews. I'd rate it zero stars if that were an option. This was the first time in my life I've ever just walked out of a doctor's office in the middle of an appointment. There wasn't one single issue, but rather a collection of misinformation, lies, manipulations, and overt disregard that make it clear this practice exists SOLELY for the benefit of its doctors and employees, and they obviously don't give a crap about the people who are paying for their help. There were too many insults to list, but the two most heinous (imo) were: being promised a service (general pain consult) that simply isn't available there (requested by my referring physician, and promised by the person who booked the appointment; then completely denied by the surly medical assistant); and, at my scheduled appointment time, being kept waiting and waiting and waiting after being told… repeatedly (both by the desk staff and by the difficult medical assistant, "the doctor is running on time and will be right with you". I sat in that office for nearly 1-1/2 hrs (first thing in the morning), and never once even saw Dr. Quave. HORRIBLE customer service. If that's the way this guy runs his office, I can only imagine the poor quality of his care. Shame on you all.

This guy should sell real estate or used cars. You'll know what I mean within 3 minutes of walking into his office on Golf Drive in Medford. He lies to people about pain meds, the "guidelines" for opiates, and medical marijuana use (while promoting his overpriced "hemp" oil),while deliberately overbooking his patients via incompetent and uncaring staff so that 1-2 hour waits for appointments are the norm. He also books you for two appointments to do things other providers accomplish in one! If you have any choice at all, go someplace else!

Cruel and inhumane treatment of patients! All patients have serious, chronic pain, but are made to wait for hours- yes HOURS - on hard chairs in a waiting room so crowded there is no room to stretch or move. Often here are not enough chairs for patients to sit. Most patients are unable to stand for more than a few minutes due to pain. When asked why they do this, the response was "because that's what we do". I was charged $200.00 for a test that I was not informed was being run, and did not consent to. They are the only game in town, so they can treat patients any way they want. They are raking money in hand-over-fist, but don't care a bit about meeting patient's needs, only profit.

Making his patients attend group classes to sell supplements, and billing for each class. Sure doesnt sound ethical not to mention true care for the patient. Gezz come on man!!

I was told by the FNP that my ua kept showing I was on benzos when I haven't taken benzos in a year. And when I asked for blood work to be done so I can see what kind of benzos are if it was my buspirone that was causing the ua to show it was benzos he said no. And told me I was a liar and had a drug addiction to benzos. And he will not be seeing me again. I have a appointment with my PCP tomorrow and will discuss what he said and how he treated me. He gave me a list of 2 benzos he said I tested positive for I have never heard of them before in my life. My PCP and I will get to the bottom of this. He needs to lose his god complex and admit when he is wrong.

I made my appointment three months ago then had to wait today for TWO HOURS to see the DOCTOR WHO WAS IN MY ROOM FOR ONLY 4 MINUTES. Unacceptable! And the visit costs me $250.......totally ridiculous! Add to this that I had a new severe neck pain and the doctor didn't ask any questions as to what might be causing it, didn't feel the affected area.....nothing. What he wanted to do instead was put me on strong steroids. Really?!? As I'm not one who takes medicine willing, I refused so he gave me a referral for physical therapy as well as orders to have an x-ray done. He told me to make my next appointment in two months. So, I have to continue suffering with severe neck pain and wait two more months to see what he finds out from my x-ray? In my humble opinion, this is just not the way for a doctor to treat a patient with severe pain. He should at least have taken a little time to check the affected area, spoken to me about what he thought might be causing it then had me return to… him within a couple of weeks after he received the x-ray results. But, no, I have to wait.......again. I spoke with several other patients waiting for the doctors and every one of them had been waiting up to two hours. Either the clinic needs to stop taking new patients or hire more doctors to see their patients. Let me add that I typically wait at least a half an hour to forty-five minutes but now, as you can tell, each appointment has me waiting longer and longer. I am seriously considering finding a new pain clinic. I'm not willing to spend so much time waiting for such a short time with the doctor then add the driving time back to my home of one hour. Before you decide to become a patient, ask yourself: Just how long am I willing to sit in the waiting room to see the doctor for a very short visit? And, how much am I willing to pay for that kind of service? The answer is up to you.

Have been seeing him for almost 3 years, and would have seen him for rest of my life had I had anything to say about it. Unfortunately due to a NP in the other side of his office who administers meds I am no longer able to see Dr. Quave for much needed Trigger Point injections. Been cold Turkey for over 3 months and in extreme pain due to an conversation in the waiting room overheard incorrectly by a receptionist I got booted!

My grandma has been coming to see dr Quave for over a year now and I have to say the man is a sweet sweet man but the waiting there is out of control ! Why do we have a appointment when we have to wait 2-3 hours in the waiting room just to get in a office room ???? We have lives too and if you are taking on to many people then you need to hire more help !!!!! Many people share my feelings .

Waited forever to be seen and he really only wants to use mental health to treat pain. Is he kiddin? Our only choice in pain management in the area does not treat pain! The wait is always over 90 minutes.

I really like this doctor on a personal level professionally all he wants to do is inject, inject , inject and pass out pills. I had to go to my family doctor to get another opinion and referral.Shots and pills do not hold all the answers
