Dr. Brian Keith Auge, MD

Had partial nephrectomy for benign angiomyolipomas. I deplore surgery, but Dr. Auge and the St. Luke’s nurses and staff in the hospital and clinic were responsive and took outstanding care of me.

Dr, Auge is a highly skilled surgeon as he performed a Robotic retroperitoneal partial nephrectomy on me May of 2019. My understanding is that this procedure is even more complicated than the normal robotic partial nephrectomy as they go in from the side. Less muscle involvement. Everything went as planned, up and walking he halls 7 hours after the procedure. Walked with the wife out to the car the next day to go home. Pathology came back with clear margins, RCC very small 1.2 CM grade 2 tumor. Pain was very minimal, didn’t need to take any pain meds. Though I was careful not to lift anything for awhile, I was up moving around doing things around the house a week later.

Over the last 9 months, Dr. Auge worked closely with myself and my wife to investigate the cause and correct severe urinary retention problems and bladder spasm symptoms I was experiencing. He did fantastic job of listening to our concerns and methodically investigated each potential cause before helping us decide on a course of corrective action. In the end, robotic surgical intervention and partial prostate removal proved to be the best option for my lifestyle and age. Dr. Auge completed the surgery with a high degree of skill and (after 3 months) everything healed perfectly and the minimal side effects were exactly what he told me to expect prior to the surgery. He even arranged for a hospital colleague to take over the controls of the robot and use the same surgical session to repair a hernia discovered during Dr. Auge's urinary retention investigation. I am extremely pleaded with Dr. Auge's attention to detail, technical skill and the respectful way he treated both myself and… my wife during each visit.

Felt forgotten and like I was a burden

He lined me out non-invasive course of treatment and explained current and future options. I would consider his verbal communication skills to be well above those of an average doctor.

I had a partial nephrectomy due to cancer. Dr. Auge has always been easy to talk to and he explained everything that was going to happen. The surgery went very well. The follow-up visits show him to be caring and willing to spend time with me to answer my questions. I highly recommend Dr. Auge.
