Dr. Brian D Bray

When I first met Dr. Bray I was ecstatic! I was so appreciative and grateful that he would take my case. After I thanked him wholeheartedly, I cried tears of joy in my car that I finally found someone who said he will be able to help me. Dr. Bray later verbally told me that he completely understood if I was to sue my orthodontist of 14 years, who he said caused so much damage that I was his most challenging case. But he said he didn't want anything to do with my case in a legal situation. After my lawyer requested his records, Dr. Bray sent me a dismissal letter, claiming that I was not a compliant patient. He also said my expectations were unrealistic. And yet, no matter what he said, I was always like "OK, sounds good!" For me, any improvement was a step in the right direction, believe me. I was never looking for perfection, I just want to save my teeth and look half way normal. This dismissal was shortly before my upcoming appointment to start a treatment plan; to me this was no… coincidence. I was devastated! The alleged reasons he stated fall in line with reasons the board allows to dismiss a patient, but I feel are not at all true in my case. Non-compliant? Let's examine this claim. I was always on time. I paid my first couple visits in full at the time of the appointment because they required it even though he was a preferred provider of my insurance. Most contracted dentists bill the patient after they get insurance payment to see how much they pay, especially in cases of a partial write off. I was kind and respectful to him and his staff. He told me to go out and get a tooth checked out for a root canal. I got the root canal done despite the challenges this posed in multiple ways. His own orthodontist, Dr. Joe Safirstein, also wrote poorly of me and didn't want to work on my case with Dr. Bray. I believe not because I was difficult like Dr. Joe claimed in his letter (which I got a copy of from my lawyer), but because he didn't want a challenging dental case, like others before him, due to the way my orthodontist left me in an impossible situation with bone loss, receded gums, dangerously loose level 1 teeth, a collapsed bite, loss of tooth show when I smile etc... I am a huge mess aesthetically, functionally and dental pain wise. I was super kind and respectful to Dr. Joe Safirstein too. I was so thankful that he was considering taking on the ortho part of my case, but I never stood a chance. It is my personal opinion that both Dr. Brian Bray and Dr. Joe Safirstein wanted to protect my orthodontist in any way they could. But he couldn’t dismiss me for that reason, so he claimed I was non-complaint with unrealistic expectations. My expectations are actually pretty low, as I have understood the graveness of my case even before I saw him. Dr. Joe even barked at me when I told him my front 2 teeth were fractured at the original orthodontist’s office. He had asked how they broke, and I was simply answering honestly. I was shocked, and just looked down and apologized for fear I wouldn't get his help, which I didn't anyway. Dr. Bray dismissed me, which is a breach of contract among other legal issues, and every appointment before that was for the purpose of leading towards the treatment plan. All those appointments about my treatment plan were for the sole purpose of actually doing the treatment plan he had written up for me, not to just chat about it. That's a loss of $369 for appointments that went nowhere and his office refuses to refund it, plus time, energy & disappointment. It's disheartening being treated this way. I also had to pay money to my lawyer requesting a refund from Dr. Bray, but he refused. Bray's office argued that they wrote off so many charges for me. But most bills were paid by myself and insurance, and other charges didn't make sense. For instance, they charged $681 for an occlusal guard I never got. When I told them this, they did refund my insurance and take back the huge bill they sent me. They also sent an $80 bill to print my records for the lawyer, but I've only been there 4 times.

Dr. Bray is funny, engaging, efficient, and does exceptional work. He takes the time to explain procedures to patients in as much or as little detail as they prefer, and as much or little complex terminology as the patient desires. The office is compact, but it's amazing how efficiently and pleasantly the staff manages the flow of patients. The front desk and billing staff are always helpful and polite. The office is bright and cheery, and includes very modern technology and equipment. And the office always spotless and shiny.
