Dr. Brian Liang-Yu Chen

Brian Chen, MD, is a board-certified general and vascular surgeon, who brings more than 20 years of experience to Surgical Associates of Richmond. Dr. Chen earned his medical doctorate from Emory University School of Medicine, followed by an internship in general surgery at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He then completed General Surgery training at Medstar Georgetown-Washington Hospital Center, where he served as administrative chief resident, and Vascular Surgery training at Eastern Virginia Medical School. | Prior to medical school, Dr. Chen graduated summa cum laude from Georgia Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. Dr. Chen is a former U.S. Navy physician who has actively deployed with the U.S. Marine Corps, providing all aspects of medical care in the field. | In addition to his board certification in General and Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Chen is a fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery and the American College of …Surgeons. Throughout his career, Dr. Chen?s expertise in patient care and vascular research has garnered him multiple awards and publications in books and peer reviewed journals. | Dr. Chen?s area of focus in vascular surgery includes advanced arterial and venous endovascular interventions, open arterial reconstruction, carotid interventions including Transcarotid Artery Revascularization, and endovascular and open aortic repairs. He is currently accepting new patients and referrals.
