Disappointing Experience at M.City Endodontics Maryland Farms Office. I recently had an unfortunate experience during my visit to Dr. Brian Crump's office, and I feel compelled to share my concerns about the treatment I received. My primary purpose in seeking dental advice was to address a discomfort in my upper right tooth, for which I initially received questionable medical advice. Upon consulting Dr. Crump, I was recommended to undergo a root canal procedure. Deciding to seek a second opinion, I discovered that the root of the problem lay in a misfitting implant in my lower right jaw, rather than the upper tooth. After addressing the implant issue, the pain in my upper tooth subsided, highlighting a potential misdiagnosis. However, my dissatisfaction didn't end there. I faced further complications with the endodontist's office staff, who, unfortunately, treated me poorly. Despite having both medical and dental insurance, the office refused to file a claim with my primary… insurance, which resulted in undue stress and complications. My primary insurance, after a call from me on December 12, 2023, intervened and convinced the office to file the claim. To my surprise, despite assurances from the office that they would not send the remaining balance of $91.30 to collections, I received a letter from a collection agency on December 24, 2023. During my visit to the office, I was informed that the total charge was $291.30, and I promptly paid a $200 copay on the day of the visit. However, later I discovered that the $200 was allocated towards a 3D X-ray, a procedure not covered by my insurance, even though a regular X-ray would have sufficed. This brings into question whether the choice of a more expensive 3D X-ray was in my best interest as a patient or merely a financial decision for the endodontist. Given that a regular X-ray is both cheaper and covered by my insurance, it raises concerns about the prioritization of financial gain over patient well-being. The 3D x-ray also did not prevent Dr. Crump to give a potential misdiagnosis. In summary, my experience at Dr. Crump’s office was marred by a potential misdiagnosis, refusal to file with my primary insurance, and an unexpected hit to my credit due to a mishandling of billing. The use of a costly 3D X-ray without clear communication about insurance coverage further adds to my dissatisfaction. I hope that sharing my experience will prompt a reevaluation of practices at the endodontist's office and contribute to improved patient care in the future.
