Dr. Brian Milton Garby, MD

I went to the ER to be evaluated for a blood clot from a visit to the Urgent Care on Bee Ridge. That Doctor suspected the moment she saw my leg and ordered additional testing. Dr. Garby and his staff (which were excellent) did the necessary testing and sent me on my way home. He explained what he was doing and what was expected. I give him and his staff an A+. A disabled friend from Port Saint Lucie who has had 19 surgeries since a car accident 25 years ago, came to stay with me during hurricane Irma because he had fallen down and was having increasing problems. On September 13th he was due to go home but by that time could could not walk or move himself and the pain in his hip, leg and back was excruciating! We called 911 and they took this SCREAMING 63 year old man to Sarasota Memorials emergency room where he unfortunately was seen my Dr. Brian Garby. He was given a shot 2 scripts and called a cab. He was put in a wheel chair and left sitting in front of the emergency room SCREAMING. When Dr Garby was asked to come back in to see him again his answer was . "you got your shot, why are you still screaming? Go home there is nothing I can do for you." He never ordered an xray, blood or anything else. Two weeks later he was found by the police passed out on his floor in his home . They took him to a hospital in Saint Lucie ran blood… work and an xray, & MRI and found he has a life threatening infection in his spine and 5 discs are so swollen that the metal screws that had been placed during a surgery several months prior, are now touching each other. All the metal is to be removed and replaced with a new surgery after the infection gets under control , now they will have to go through the stomach to reach his spine because of all the trauma from the time that has passed. This could have been avoided had G-d, I mean Dr. Garby done his job and listened to his patent who was so confused that half of the time he had no idea where he was. He treated him like a drug addict just because he is in long term pain treatment. Had he done a simple blood test he would have found that he was not taking enough medicine NOT too much but he could not be bothered. How could any person with an ounce of humanity leave another person alone sitting in a chair screaming? His current doctors have no idea how he could walk or stand at all with this infection. This is just another case of a doctor not taking the time to understand a patient but instead making widespread presumptions based on others and not the individual in front of them. Thank goodness he is receiving the care he needs now but had ne not been found by the police he would have died and it would be G-d Garby's fault!
