Dr. Brian James Klika, MD

I was referred to Dr Klika by a major Chicago Hand Surgery Center. He is a doctor that will stand by you and listen until you are satisfied with the surgery results. Doctors like this are hard to find.

Dr. Klika & his staff did a great job on straightening out my aging crumbling right palm. Listen his directions & you will be just fine. Yes I would go back to him with any hand or wrist problems ?

in August 2016 i went to the ER because I thought my hand was broken. i had an x-ray at that time and had no breaks. I had severe pain at the base of my thumb. i was referred to Dr. Sodhi. he talked to me about the cmc joint and after 3 visits with him, he moved to another location. after a few more visits with assistants and other doctors filling in, Dr. Klika became my doctor. over time i received 3 cortisone shots, and the pain at the base of my thumb continued to worsen affecting my everyday life. being the patient i listened to him. wore his braces to support my thumb, even one for my elbow.. he eventually scheduled me for surgery- - carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve surgery-- hmm,. . . although i had some tingling from MILD carpal tunnel and SOME tingling when he squeezed my arm and told me that was the ulnar nerve causing the tingling. again, being the patient, i listened to him. set up appointment for carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve decompression surgery. so 8 months after my… initial ER visit for my thumb, i had the surgery, which included another cortisone shot for my thumb. my FMLA pprwk said i would be out of work, 8-12 wks. he fully released at my first post op appointment at just 6 weeks. i had healed well and had no issues concerning the surgeries. i asked him before he walked out of the room how i was supposed to hold the the 10' pole at work due to the continuing and worsening pain in my thumb. his quoted response was " I've released you from the surgery, stop at the front desk, make an appointment and we'll talk surgery on the thumb". and then he was gone. just like that! i was left standing there with his nurse . . baffled! needless to say, i did NOT stop at the front desk, NOR have I scheduled another appointment with him. Nor will i see him again! now, 6 months post op, since being FULLY released to go back to my manual labor job with my deteriorating cmc joint, records show that i am NOT fully released. notes in my records show patient complains of numbing and tingling at the surgical sites!!! because of those notes i cannot donate blood but yet i can do manual labor 48 hrs a week. . .hmmmm i assumed the cortisone shots then eventually surgery, were steps towards getting to the original problem. . . my cmc joint! HINDSIGHT. . if only i would have known better. i asked questions along the way but did not expect this outcome. i am financially broke since i support myself and cannot afford to have my cmc joint surgery. i have carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve surgery to pay for. my last question for him would be "what up doc?"

Prior to seeing doctor klika I was examined by two separate doctor's in two different hospitals. I explained to both doctor's that I'm 99% sure that there's a broken scaphoid bone in my wrist. Prior to going to the doctors I did extensive research that resulted in my decision to go in and seek the proper treatment. Both those doctor's said I had a sprained wrist slapped a brace on and sent me on my way. After a few weeks of being in never ending pain I googled wrist doctor's and found dr klikas office went to see him that very day. I explained to him what's going on with my wrist, in less than a half hour I was walking out of there with a proper diagnosis and a appointment for wrist surgery the following week. He's a great doctor that cares about his patience.
