Dr. Brian Neil Maddux, MD

My husband had been with Dr. Maddox for several years. Dr. Maddox appears to be very knowledgeable in his field. Appointments were fairly easy to get - every six months. Unfortunately, I became very uncomfortable in his treatment of my husband. There were several instances where I felt he disrespected my husband. It was very painful for me to experience this. Parkinson's is a cruel disease and disrespect from a doctor is disappointing as well as depressing. He also failed to adequately address some issues which were very problematic for my husband and he was sometimes was rather dismissive of my husband's complaints. We transferred to another doctor a couple of years ago and, though my husband's disorder continues to progress of course, we could not be more satisfied with the care he is now getting. A continual problem he had been experiencing (leg cramps) has been addressed and now controlled. Though appointments take a bit longer to get, communication with his doctor is quick,… positive, and productive through MyChart. In fact, his doctor encourages such communication. One especially positive person in the office was the nurse, Mary. She was pleasant, compassionate, efficient, and helpful in getting me access to resources. I suppose, overall, the experience at Riverhills was not altogether negative, but overall I wish we had changed doctor's sooner. Something that really puzzles me is lack of follow up. When we left Dr. Maadox's practice, no one called to find out if my husband was okay or why he left. As a clinician myself, in another field, I believed it was good practice to reach out to a patient and complete a termination summary.

Dr. Maddox is a great doctor, he told Mary to please give me an appointment for the next 3 months of my treatment. After he left she told me that she had no appointment for me in those three months if so she would call I don't know what to do because I cannot stop my treatment. I am very worried about my treatment being stopped. I have never ever been treated like this at River Hills everyone was always been so professional she treated me like it was my fault that I was injured I need Dr Maddox to get her to give me an appointment thank you.

Dr. Maddux has no bedside manner and no customer service skills. He is academically arrogant and doesn't know how to convert complex language into simplistic terms for his patients. I accompanied my father on a routine Parkinson's visit where Dr. Maddux yelled at him during what we thought was a two-way discussion. His exact words were, "Wait! Don't talk to me while I'm typing!" He berated my father and shamed him for not completely answering a question he had asked. I DO NOT recommend this doctor -- especially for families who are dealing with such a complex disease and are curious for physician guidance.

Dr Maddux has always spent the time needed at our appointments. He is understanding, knowledgeable, & caring. When not in town, his Nurse, Mary goes out of her way to help. Thanks Mary & Dr Maddux

Never reviewed scans, physical exam failed to find nerve problem. Find a real doctor.
