When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer my urologist wanted to remove my prostate. I wanted a second opinion and found Dr. Moran. He did outpatient focal brachytherapy which had few temporary side effects, no long term negative side effects and am 100% cured. Your urologist likely won’t suggest treatment other than what he does because medicine is often about $. Removing your prostate leaves most men with some amount of incontinence and impotence and may not be necessary or even the best chance you have for a cure. Do your research.

I can only relate my experience , which was exceptional. I was referred to Dr. Moran by Dr. Schaffer (who I saw for a second opinion ) , head of urology at Northwestern . He said that Dr. Moran was the world's leader in seed implants and a renowned expert. The staff at Chicago Protate Center is extremely professional , caring , and compassionate. I was home by noon on the day of my procedure and had lunch. Some discomfort in my perineum for a couple days , but that was it . I was able to go on a long planned hiking trip to the Redwoods 2 weeks after my procedure and felt fine. It has been almost a year since my procedure...my PSA is dropping fast and I have had none of scary side effects you read about on the internet. I cannot urge you enough to see Dr. Moran for a first or second opinion.

He is the best Doctor to see to get everything professionally explained. I saw him for second opinion for my prostate Cancer. I had Seed Implant done in his clinic and very happy with the procedure, results with no complications. Also the staff are very professional and courteous, explain everything and they follow up with you. Don't hesitate to get his respectful opinion regarding prostate cancer or any related field.

Dr Moran did a great job & my PSA is down to .017. I was very happy with the procedure and the results. There was minimal pain.

Hard sell on radiation seeds. Gave me wrong advice which led to severe side effects. Do not trust his evaluation as to the best method of treating prostate cancer. Poor follow-up. Best advice: get a second opinion from an excellent urologist from a teaching hospital before letting this place treat your prostate cancer. He is clearly biased on his own treatment!
