In 1999, Dr O'Hea diagnosed my DCIS. Although I thought I could have a lumpectomy, as I thought all breast cancers could be removed this way, he urged me to promise I would follow through with other opinions But he stressed that a mastectomy was the right thing to do for my type of cancer. He said I might find other doctors who would be less apt to do that but it would not remove completely my cancer. Another surgeon on LI referred me to Dr. O'Hea. He stated that he was the man to see on LI for breast surgery if I decided to choose the mammosite radiation procedure.
