If you are reading reviews for Dr. Brian S. Parsley, please read this. About six months ago, I knew the time had come for my knee replacements. I had spoken to my fantastic internal medicine doctor, Dr. Barry Liberoni, for a recommendation. He recommended Dr. Parsley with complete confidence. So, I started my research on Dr. Parsley. He has some great reviews, but the ones that caught my attention were the ones about overweight people. I fall into this category. The next time I met with Dr. Liberoni, I told him I was not going to go to Dr. Parsley because of the reviews. Dr. Liberoni is the smartest, most caring doctor, and I completely trust him. He told me that Dr. Parsley was the best and had never let him down. I decided to make an appointment and at least meet him. It was an absolute pleasure meeting him and learning from him. He was not in a hurry and taught me a great deal. He said there are three parts to surgery-his part, my part, and the little part we can’t… control. He said I could count on him to do his part. He asked me if I would do my part, and I assured him I would. He said we would both work on the part we can’t exactly control, mainly preventing any infection and complications. Something he said that really went deep is that a patient will meet a surgeon for about 30 minutes and then completely place their life in the surgeon’s hands. He said that patients come in with whatever health problems they have and expect a surgeon to do the surgery perfectly every time, all while managing the other health factors that can cause complications. He said that every patient has risk factors, and the more risk factors we bring, the more challenging the surgery becomes. I have several risk factors that could cause complications, and I had the same expectation-that he could perform my knee replacements in spite of my own factors. After thinking about this, I made an even stronger commitment to get into the best shape I could prior to the two surgeries. I sure didn’t want to let Dr. Liberoni down, and I believed in Dr. Parsley, so I didn’t want anything to go wrong. I am so impressed with Dr. Parsley and his team. They have this down to a science. The first knee surgery was a great success. Hey, don’t get me wrong, the area around my knee hurt like heck for about three or four days. I had the surgery on a Monday, and by Friday I was walking around the house without a cane or walker. Within two weeks, when I went to have my staples removed, my range of motion was 124 degrees. (120 is the initial goal.) At six weeks, I was able to pull a suitcase and wear a backpack and go to an out-of-town meeting. I was up to 8,000+ steps per day and did not have any knee pain. I was able to ride my bike and go up and down a flight of stairs. At eight weeks, the second knee surgery went even better. There was the same fantastic team. I am now at two weeks post-op, and I walk without a cane or walker. I find out tomorrow what my range of motion is when I get the staples removed. If a medical professional says you are overweight or need to lose weight, don’t be mad at them. (The truth hurts.) If you are getting ready for surgery and you are fortunate to have Dr. Parsley, then do what he says. I did the exercises for two months before surgery. Don’t start bucking up and saying you can’t exercise because your knee hurts. These exercises are on the floor, table, or bed. They strengthen all the muscles you are going to need after surgery. I thought I was doing great doing the exercises two months in advance. After my first knee surgery, I kept doing the exercises and added a 2.5lb ankle weight. I realized for me all those leg lifts, flexing, and extensions were a key factor in my remarkable and quick recovery. I had also been walking five days per week for about a year, and I know this made a difference in my recovery, too. Through this experience, I have learned a lot of things. Dr. Liberoni is still smarter than me! Dr. Parsley is awesome! The patient is responsible for their health. When we go to a doctor, we need to take ownership of our part of the equation. We need to be thankful there are medical professionals who will assume their part of the equation and do their best trying to help us. Do I recommend Dr. Brian Parsley as a surgeon? With all of my heart and my two new knees! Both of these doctors have a strong faith, and I truly see God working through them to help others. I will be grateful for the rest of my life for the care, compassion, and dedication of Dr. Liberoni, Dr. Parsley, and his team. Suzanne Wesson

Dr. Parsley performed a right total hip replacement on me. Surgery was four weeks ago and I feel great. I trusted and felt comfortable with Dr. Parsley from the first visit all the way through the surgery and follow-up. He took his time explaining everything to me and I felt comfortable and trusted him to do his part. I knew from the first appointment what to expect and what I needed to do and what he was going to do. Surgery was one day and I went home the next day. Dr Parsley applies today’s latest technology for a less invasive surgery and a quick, painless recovery period. He did a great job, He asked me to do my part, lose weight and do my exercises before and after surgery and it all turned out just like he said it would. I would recommend Dr. Parsley to anyone in pain who needs a total joint replacement. Dr. Parsley is a wonderful person with a great bedside manner. He is going to replace my left hip in 4 weeks. Dr. Parsley performed a total knee replacement for me. I trusted and felt comfortable with Dr. Parsley from the first visit all the way through the surgery and follow-up. He took all the time I needed, explained EVERYTHING completely so I would know what to expect and told me what I needed to do. In addition to his wonderful personal manner, he uses the latest medical techniques - a custom built knee in my case - that result in less invasive surgery and a quicker, less painful recovery. He did a great job, and all I had to do was my part of the job - physical therapy and lose weight - and everything turned out just like he said it would. Dr. Parsley and his entire staff were fabulous. They met all of my expections and then some. Their personal touch made me feel like a person - not just a number. I highly recommend Dr. Parsley for your orthopedic surgery needs.

totally committed, great knowledge of his specialty, listens, great communicator

Dr. Parsley has performed bi-lateral hip replacements on me with first in 2005 and second in 2007. He takes his time with the patient explaining every detail and takes time to answer any and all questions. Because of this, if the wait is a little long, I realize that he takes his time with each and every patient.He has a great bedside manner and you see him often in the hospital. Has a good sense of humor also (which is very important to me!)Highly recommended.
