Dr. Brian Alexander Petrie, MD

Dr. Petrie's Rancho Mirage office has unfriendly, unhelpful front office staff. The receptionists don’t apologize for long hold times, even when trying to fix mistakes their office has generated, and are completely unsympathetic with justified frustration with the incompetence I've encountered in this office. I've been a patient for 3 years. In my mind I've been exceedingly patient with multiple ongoing poor care issues. But she hung up on me today and now I seem to recall this isn't the first time. This Rancho Mirage office has a revolving door of physicians that set up practice and move away within a year. I've met Dr. Petrie several times and thought I finally had a nice doctor who would listen. But being nice hasn’t proven effective in helping me figure out what was going on with my sinusitis, allergies and sleep issues. Instead he fixated on incorrect diagnoses that we have ruled out because he is unprepared, inexperienced and doesn't read his patient's notes. For over a… year now, I have been fighting an incorrect diagnosis of a chronic degenerative disease that I don’t have. This doctor and this office referred me to a lung function test that came back negative and normal. The test results in my records show I do not have any disease or disfunction they can find. Dr. Petrie forgets my history and asks me every time how I’m doing with that disease. I refer him to the tests in my records, which show that diagnosis was wrong. He agrees and says he will remove that diagnosis from my charts. But he never does – I can only guess that he forgets or he doesn’t know how to operate the computer-driven diagnosis system. At my last visit, I needed a DMV health certification for a special RV driver’s license. The last doctor who filled out the form two years ago checked the 14 boxes while I waited. I was able to get the form completed immediately. But Dr. Petrie had a two-month long wait to see him. And when I got there, the bad diagnosis was still on my records. Dr. Petrie again said he would remedy the wrongful diagnosis. Then he said because had never seen such a form before, he wanted to study my record and fill out the form later, without me there. I couldn’t believe it, but left without the form. He requested audiology records from another doctor that were not required by the form, which further delayed the completion of a simple DMV form. When I received the form in the mail three weeks later, instead of removing the diagnosis, he had actually checked the box that says "This patient has been diagnosed with emphysema, chronic asthma or tuberculosis" on the form! That’s not true! He did the opposite of what he was supposed to do. I am stillt trying remedy this gross incompetence that is making my life difficult. The office takes a message and promises to look into it and call me back. They never call me back. So I call them again a week or two later. I wait on hold for 10 minutes, and I start from square one again. I wait another ten minutes for someone to look up my records and say, "Well, we can't change the form because your records say COPD." And when I have to explain again, she gives me another empty promise that somebody will call me back. When I express frustration that that’s what I heard last time, and they are neglecting to follow-up, said curtly, “You seem to be frustrated and I can’t talk to you if you’re frustrated.” She hung up on me. Not the first time. This negligence may not be directly endangering to your health, but it certainly doesn't help. Keep looking for a doctor who will be present and thorough. Not only has Dr. Petrie not helped, he has caused me a pantload of trouble. If you care about your time, stress level, and ease of dealing with and doing business with a medical office, don't pick this guy and don't pick this office.

Dr Petrie is so funny caring and just a great Doctor. I really like coming to the Rancho Mirage office. The staff is always nice, they get me in as soon as possible and its a short wait always.

If you have no seen Dr. Petrie you really need to. He is my primary care Doctor. I do have to say my visit's with him are always delightful considering I am at the Doctors and that's never for fun. He seems to make my visits delightful with his wonderful bedside manner. I am really hoping he stay in the Rancho Mirage Location for long time. Its nice, quiet and very little wait time.

Dr. Petrie is the best, I have seen him in the Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage locations. I do have to say the Rancho Mirage location is nice. Its smaller and the wait time is very little.

If you have not seen Dr Petrie you are missing out, love love love this Dr and all the staff in RM. Very welcoming always. Happy with my care

Super nice, really liked Dr Petrie and the girls in the rancho mirage office. Plus my wait time was great. I was in the room within 10 mins
