Dr. Brian Russell Rapacz, MD

This guy is a joke. I saw him for a total of 20 minutes to diagnose an emergency ectopic pregnancy. He reviewed my ultrasound and then frantically told me I was bleeding out, categorizing my trauma as a 5 (highest level you can go - the hospital deemed it a level 3). My gynecologist came and performed surgery/calmly addressed me over the situation and after the fact told me it was serious but I wasn't on the verge of death while all of this was happening. Granted, had I not gone in and waited a day or so things would have escalated to a level 5. None of that really matters until you get to the 10 months I've been fighting with his billing office to provide the necessary information so my insurance company can process the claim. St. Charles is in-network but this guy is out of network - because he wants to make more money and has hired a billing office out of Chicago that doesn't have adequate staff to answer phones/actually speak to me to resolve the issue. United Health care will… process the claim as in network if this guy's office could get it together and send the necessary information to the correct address. I've spent a good 12 hours on the phone trying to resolve this issue and just received a "final notice" for payment. In an emergency, if this guy walked in again, I'd request a different doctor.

Excellent physician. Businesslike manner, and precise skills. Took great care of my Mother at St. Charles ER. Unfortunate that Dr. must be the sole on site director overseeing MANY patients while security and other personnel basically stand around. Hard to see our healthcare workers and hard working Drs. have to work in such a regulated and "jaillike" setting. Has our civilization deteriorated THIS much??? Soon, we will have the TSA frisking patients and families at the door. Is this how we want to live? Did Doctors, after many years of training, expect to be working in such a heavily regulated and paranoid environment?Hopefully, Dr. Rapacz will continue, as we were lucky to have him. Glad we waited 5 hours in the ER for such good care!
