Dr. Brian Gene Riddle, MD

Hi , I usually don't write reviews about doctor visits or anything, but how I was treated by his nurse to begin with was extremely rude. So when I seen Mr. Brian Riddle I had explained my issues I was having and how it was effecting my job. I stand on my feet all day as a blackjack dealer for one of the casinos in the area. After he heard that come out of my mouth he stopped me and said " let me stop you right here, I'm not here to give out pain meds" I was taken back and said sir that's not what I came to the the doctors office for, I told him I have ibuprofen at home. I explained that I seen first hand hand what pain medications do to people and I had a best friend that had lost her life because of it and how I tried and tried to get her to stop but she explained that she tried but for some reason she would always go back. So I myself was scared to take anything besides Ibuprofen and Tylenol. Anyways I tried to say I think I have something wrong with my hip and was hoping to have him… take a look or refer me to the right person or whatever because I didn't know what to do, all I knew was it was getting worse over time. He just kept saying if you're looking to get pain narcotics from me you're not going to. I must've told him at least 3 times I already have ibuprofen for the pain, I was just worried about my hip getting worse and would like to possibly see a specialist or someone who knows about hips and hip pain. I didn't want it to get so bad that I needed surgery for a new hip or anything of that sort. Then he said why didn't you just go to your own hospital in Cloquet? (he was meaning the hospital on the Fond Du Lac Reservation) for Fond Du Lac Band Members. Little did he know I wasn't even from the Fond Du Lac tribe. I had only lived in Duluth a few years but after seeing this guy for medical help it literally blew my mind as I was leaving. So that was my experience with this...guy, sorry (it bugs me to call him a doctor) so anyways I just wanted to share my experience I had with this person. I honestly felt like he labeled me the minute he walked in and seen me. Even though I was explaining my situation I didn't feel he was actually listening and hearing me, it was as if he already had his mind made up about why he thought I was there. I never thought this would happen from a doctor but I honestly felt like I was being profiled and let me tell you it is one of the worst feelings ever, especially coming from a "doctor". So anyway I just wanted to share my story about my visit with this person.

Dr. Riddle is very personable and cares about his patients. He also listens and cares about what the patient wants/needs. He likes his patients to be partners with him in their medical care. He has been my family's doctor for the last 5 years. He is moving and we are sad to see him go. Excellent family care!

Very caring doctor, very sorry to see him moving to Duluth.
