Dr. Brian Francis Rigney, MD

Just before a move closer to New Haven, I was diagnosed with HPV (my fiance unknowingly infected me). I switched gynos due to location/distance and made an appointment with Dr. Rigney. I disclosed right at the beginning of the visit that I had HPV and how I got it. The look of disgust on his face the entire time he was doing my pap, and the extra protections he and his staff took (double-gloves, not just one female staff member but three, just looking at my nethers, and a mask for him), plus he used a speculum that was WAY too big for me. All the while with that look of disgust on his face. I got out of there as quickly as I could and I have not been back. What kind of doctor does that to a patient, especially one with such a common infection?? I still have profound feelings of shame because of what he did and how it made me feel.

I saw Dr. Rigney during my pregnancy a year ago, and it was the worst experience I have ever had with a physician in my entire life! Unfortunately, my options were limited under my husband's insurance, so I didn't have much of a choice but to remain his patient until my baby was born. It was so bad, that I didn't even go back to him for my postpartum visit! First of all, the office staff is extremely rude and unempathetic. Each and every one of them has a snotty arrogant attitude and show absolutely no concern for the patients. If you ask a question, they act as if you are bothering them. The crude attutude displyed by the staff make it a very uncomfortable and intimidating environment. To make matters worse, there wasn't a time that I didn't have to wait at least an hour to be seen and I always got there on time for my appointment. As far as Dr. Rigney is concerned, he has a horrible bedside manner and presents himself in a very uncaring and unprofessional manner. He is also very rude… and snippy if you ask a question and can't push you out the door quick enough. He actually intimidates you and makes you afraid to ask questions, and heaven knows everyone pregnant woman has many questions. Overall, I have to say that I never once left that office not frustrated or on the verge of tears. I would never go back there again for any reason whatsoever, and I definitely would not recommend this doctor to anyone regardless of the circumastance they are in with their insurance. In fact, I wouldn't even go to him again if the visits were free of charge!!!
