Dr. Brian Gregory Rubin, MD

I have been a patient of Dr Rubin's since 2012. I had several graphs done and ultimately had both legs amputated below the knee. I have had to wait sometimes but never minded. Dr. and his assistant Julie always made me feel like I was the only patient they had. I recently had an ER visit and was directed to make an appointment with Dr Rubin. My appointment was at the end of the day however the discussion we had and the exam was very thorough. It was decided I needed a Doppler to rule out a blood clot. Two days later, Julie called with the result of no blood clot but Dr. wanted me to get a CT. I have had a lot of time with Dr and his staff (especially in 2012,) but always know they have always been kind, caring and professional.

If your health and well being matters to you and you believe like I do that the way things are handled prior to surgery can be a reflection of how things might be handled in your treatment, then perhaps you may what to know about my recent experience with Dr. Rubin and his staff. I had to wait more than 45 min. passed my appt time to be seen during my initial visit. Nearly 4 weeks passed my visit I hadn’t received a call back from their office regarding my insurance results. However, my papers from the insurance company were delivered about 2 weeks following my visit and indicated it had also been cc to their office. Once I received the paperwork I reached out to their office and it took nearly a week for me to receive a phone call back from the MA. It was during this call she took down my information so she could track down my paperwork that she indicated hadn’t arrived to her knowledge. Several more days went by before I finally received a phone call back… indicating, the insurance had approved my procedure. This was the morning of Wed. Dec. 5th at which time I was offered a surgery date of Friday Dec. 7th but a time needed to be coordinated with the OR and she would get back to me with a time. I assumed I would hear back by the end of that same day but I didn’t. I didn’t hear back from her for 24 hrs or more, which was now Thursday and one day before the procedure. This left my driver insufficient time to notify his job regarding the procedure and therefore another date, Mon. Dec. 17th was selected. The office MA told me she would place prep and other instructions in the mail to me the following day which would have been Dec. 7th, last Friday. However, a full week later, still no papers have arrived. By this point I’m becoming a little concerned. I wasn’t sure if any prep needed to be occurring at this point like, stopping all normal medicationns. This left me feeling uncertain and had me questioning what if my procedure is handled in a similar fashion. To ease my concerns and possibly gain some understanding regarding my experiences I contacted the office. The call did not get off to a great start. The receptionist offered to take a message for the doctor to which, I asked if the doctor would get my message today. Her response was to repeat her initial offer in not the most pleasant way which was, “I said I could take a message.” I had to explain to her that she was clear the first time but I was wondering what were the chances he would get the message today since we were a little short on time. Eventually, I was able to speak with Dr. Rubin who I didn’t have any issues with but was just hoping to be put at ease that none my experiences were remotely a reflection of what I could expect from my procedure. Let’s just say that wasn’t what was conveyed. He did however make it absolutely clear that if I was uneasy about things than his recommendation was for me not to have my surgery done through them. I don’t understand how people can be in the health and healing field and lack compassion for a patient who brings a legitimate concern and seeks reassurance that they are in good hands. What a shame. PS. Renee got slightly funky with me after she offered to take a message for you and I proceeded to ask if she could get a message to you today, to which she responded with, “I said I could take a message”. At this point I had enough and I called her out on her tone.

Went to Dr. Rubin office in Oct. for elective surgery, he saw me for 3 minutes and told me he would get back to me regarding cost. Two months latter no call but he kept the insurance co/pay. Obviously too busy!!
