Unassuming, down to earth. Not arrogant like some doctors in his league. Seems very dedicated; thoroughly explains his work. This is based on my first appointment with him.

All he cares about is money. He will skip all corners necessary and will perform unnecessary surgery. He is a disgusting human being

Dr Schmidt treated my squamous cell Tongue cancer. We took a very agressive approche with a exellent outcome. Had a 1/3 resection of the tongue and was able to preserve Nerve function and speach, along with a Modified radical neck desection. All pathologies came back with clear margins and negitave results. Found Dr Schmidt to be very skilled surgon who is straight forward and diect. I would recomend Dr Schmidt to anyone dealing with oral cancers

Dr. Schmidt was late, rushed, and seems to resent that he had to see me. He kept interrupting me because he was impatient for the answers. He was RUDE and condescending. The person who wrote the Oct 5th review was right about Dr. Schmidt only caring about money. I was referred to Dr. Schmidt by a friend of a friend and now I know why he was so nice to the other person: money. If he thinks he can get a donation from you for his research, he will lay on the charm. Otherwise, he's just a pretentious arrogant jerk that should stay in a research lab and not see patients. I give him a zero for personality and bedside manner. Find another doctor who cares more about patients and less about his ego.

An absolutely insensitive doctor who does not take kindly to patient questions, spends no time with patients, gives such ridiculous answers as "you are just lucky to be alive. The overall quality of life doesn't really matter. Take some Tylenol." If he isn't getting all the glory or figuring who to hit up next for his Blue Stone fund, he is an aloof fool who belongs in a research lab, far, far away from humans. People who seek his expertise do so as a result of his degrees which at the end of the day are only pieces of paper. Instead, maybe people are only impressed by his showmanship and car salesmanship approach. , Patients should question/interview the surgeon as what to expect, anticipated outcome, and his/her success rate and the various alternative. There are much more compassionate, more understanding doctors, and far more qualified and talented doctors than Dr Schmidt at NYU that should be sitting in that chair. Don't fall for his salesmanship and insensitivity. The… best doctors out there are those who are willing to take a chance to fix others mistakes and don't seek the shallow spotlight for themselves like Dr Schmidt.

Dr Schmidt has diognosed my stage 1V tongue cancer . Operated on me for 11 hours in 2009 And has followed my case and treatments for over 5 years. He is brilliant,thoughtful,kind and the force behind my current good health
