Dr. Brian Kiyoshi Tanabe, MD

Dr. Tanabe is patient, kind and gentle and takes his time to answer all your questions and concerns. As a first time parent, I constantly second guess myself, and doctor Tanabe always patient listens to my concerns and is easily accessible. He even takes after hour calls! Highly recommend.

I am in the medical field myself so I know of and can 'ask around' about docs. I interviewed Brian prior to selecting him as my son's pediatrician. His reputation at Kapiolani Hospital was awesome.He was the chief resident in Peds at Kap which speaks volumes as to his competance and personality. He always has time to answer all my questions (and I have a lot all the time) and he is always cheerful. I really don't know how he does it. As someone who deals with very, very sick children in emergency settings I highly recommend Brian. I trust him.

Dr. Tanabe is amazingly patient and willing to take time to discuss my son's health with me. He's always cheerful, and his office is supremely clean and kid-friendly. His nurse Christine is also amazing. I highly recommend him to everyone!

Great with kids. Takes time to listen to parents' opinions. Makes my son laugh. Accurately diagnosed my son when another pediatrician misdiagnosed him. Very helpful and goes out of his way for his patients. Love this Hawaii Kai location. No problems with parking or having to pay for parking.

I would highly recommend Dr. Tanabe! I spent a lot of time interviewing pediatricians before I decided on Dr. Tanabe. Actually, he was the last one I interviewed - I was so impressed by his cheerful personality, the cleanliness of his office, his professionalism, and just the 'feel' of the office, that I decided that my search was over. (I had a tough time finding a pediatrician who was warm and professional. And Dr. Tanabe is actually pretty funny too.) When I first began looking for a pediatrician, I really thought I wanted a female doctor. But like I said, after interviewing so many doctors, Dr. Tanabe was the best BY FAR. He is caring, generous, and extremely helpful. He always spends as much time on us as we need, and we never have to wait more than 5 minutes to see him. Also, getting an appointment with him is easy too. (At other offices, the wait can be weeks!) His nurse, Christine is also wonderful. It's nice to go to an office, and to always be helped by the same… people. (I don't like guessing who will be taking care of my baby.) My husband and I actually enjoy and look forward to seeing Dr. Tanabe. We live in town, but gladly make the drive to his Hawaii Kai office. But the nice thing is that there is always tons of parking. I can always park in a close spot and have no one parked next to me (which helps when you are pulling out car seats and strollers). Dr. Tanabe is just such a genuinely nice person and a great pediatrician. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
