Dear Dr Waldman I am writing to express my frustration and the feeling of being disrespected by the front office staff. It was quite embarrassing to be engaging in a conversation with someone that you assume is there to help problem solve with you to then hear them say, “I’m not going to argue with you!” As a person of color that is highly belittling and caused me to feel undervalued when I was not raising my voice nor was, I moving in a threatening manner. I have been a patient at your office since 2014, and I have very much enjoyed my experiences and the services up till this point. I truly appreciated you stepping in and listening to what I needed and your willingness to make the correct mouth guard. Hopefully, this email with prompt a conversation with your staff about language, customer engagement and how to defuse a situation versus using triggering phrases that causes someone to leave your office with concerns about their experience.
