Dr. Briana Teresa Costello, MD

Dr. Costello is a general and interventional cardiologist trained at The Texas Heart Institute and Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center hospital. In addition to coronary and structural interventions, she has an interest in cardiovascular preventive medicine and women's heart health.Dr. Costello completed her medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine and earned Alpha Omega Alpha honors. She went on to complete her internal medicine residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.Dr. Costello is on the Teaching Staff at the Texas Heart Institute for Interventional cardiology and general cardiovascular disease. She also is an active editor for the Texas Heart Institute Journal. She is a Physician Ambassador for The Texas Heart Institute’s Center for Women’s Heart & Vascular Health and participates in a multitude of events aimed at teaching the general public about heart disease in women.Dr. Costello is on the American Heart Association’s …Council on Clinical Cardiology (CLCD) Women in Cardiology Committee. This committee is dedicated to promoting excellence in women’s heart health along with fostering professional development and education among others in the field of cardiology.Dr. Costello has accumulated a substantial following on twitter and was noted in the AIMS Public Health Journal’s Top 100 Twitter influencers in Cardiology. She uses Twitter to collaborate with her peers in both in cardiology and other specialties while also providing a platform for physicians in training to learn from leaders in cardiology around the globe. She is also the Social Media Editor for the Texas Heart Institute’s Journal.
